Question about Leona Scaling

Leona I've played Leona as my main support since Season 3 when I'd go support (It's my secondary/tertiary role depending on if I want to play JG or not).

The one thing that I've questioned about for a while is "Why doesn't Leona's Passive (why doesn't this scale with anything other than level in general?), Q, or W damage scale with armor and magic resist rather than AP?"

Also, "Why does Leona need someone else to proc her passive of sunlight when Diana does her moonlight damage alone even though the moon just reflects the sunlight which implies needing someone else?" Just being finicky and not really serious :P

It would give her a better feel to know that the tankier you are, the more it hurts to slam your shield into someone's face. I know that as is, it would make the ability a bit OP... ok, a lot OP. That's easily remedied by shifting some power and damage. I don't want to turn her into a "lock down and burst damage support". It would feel better thematically to have some additional tank scaling rather than just her W. . . . Current Passive: 20-140 magic damage proc'd by an ally dealing damage

Proposed: 10-100 + (.15 AR) + (.15 MR) magic damage proc'd by an ally dealing damage.

Reasoning: You're already going to be building tanky. Why not feel that you're getting more out of it than just base stats that only affect a non damage. The base damage for her passive feels arbitrary since you don't really need to do anything except level up. The change would allow it to be directly influenced by purchases and use with her W. . . . Current Q: 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+ 30% AP) + 1.25s stun

Proposed: 20/40/60/80/100 + (30% AP) + (.2 Armor) + 1.25s stun

Reasoning: I WANT TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT FACE SMASHING SOMEONE WITH A SHIELD! That's all. The reduction of her bonus magic damage on hit is shifted over to the new scaling to adjust for any extra power. . . . Current W: Magic Damage: 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+ 40% AP) Bonus Armor: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+ 20% bonus armor) Bonus Magic Resistance: 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (+ 20% bonus magic resistance)

Proposed: Magic Damage: 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+ 40% AP) Bonus Armor: 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 (+ 25% bonus armor) Bonus Magic Resistance: 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 (+ 25% bonus magic resistance)

Reasoning: Just a slight nerf to the mid game numbers to ensure a smooth power increase into late game without there being a massive power spike on a support. I adjusted the Bonus % as well to allow her better scaling into late game as her early game is taking a huge hit if all of the changes would be implemented (doubtful at best). . . . These are just things that have come to mind when I think of smashing faces with Leona. I don't necessarily want her buffed because she's in a good spot as is, but some changes aren't a bad thing to help out with theme or role type.

even tho i think leo is in a very balanced spot . i would like her to be viable somewhere else than support .

Giving her scaling damage with her mobility and cc opens her up to dealing too much damage and becoming an unstoppable killing machine even without her allies helping.

If her passive didn't require allies to proc then it would really be the same as adding that damage to the bases for Leona's abilities since there's no way for her to not get an auto attack in when her E just brought her into melee range AND rooted the target.

Leona is supposed to be a valiant front-line paladin who helps her allies smite their enemies through the power of the sun and teamwork. Her damage is locked into cooperation to encourage her to only use her god-tier initiations when an ally can follow up and her damage doesn't scale to encourage her to build tanky and keep feeling like an armored nightmare from the start of the game to the finish.

Also, Riot is scared of what a jungle Leona would be like if her clears were too good, kinda like how Alistar used to be able to clear the jungle really well and strolled out into lanes for free kills every single gank.
