Why Riot Makes Obviously Broken Champions/items.

Broken champs are fun to play. I mean, come on, you have to admit that going 20-0 for no effort is a guilty pleasure. Besides, no one's going to quit LoL because some champion suddenly got rediculously overpowered because they're obviously going to get nerfed anyway. And honestly, a lot of these champions get banned from ranked play anyway. If you forgot to ban Darius in 5.17...it was your own fault. Which leads me to my next point: making new OP champs to ban means older OP champs can finally see play.

Also, I've noticed that the meta's that are really cancerous for Solo-Q are right around major tournaments? Cinderhulk wasnt nerfed until right after MSI, and the Juggernaut Update come right around Worlds. I guess at the pro-level, people reliably understand counterplay and difficulty isn't really a factor, so the newest easy-to-use-and-abuse thing isn't so oppressive. But everywhere else ('specially low elo), you just have to pray that your ADC can kite or it's gg.

What do you guys think?

I'd say the only thing weird is that you're calling them broken.

I mean, sure, they're strong. The whole point of playing a Champion is to feel powerful. And it's even more fun when you find combos that synergize with the champion for more power.

But when every champion is strong in their own right, it levels the playing field somewhat. Oh, sure, Yi will pretty much always decimate Ashe, and Zed is a terror for any low-mobility mid-laner, but that's just one set of champion weaknesses known as counter-picks. Either the strength of a champion doesn't work well against their counter-pick, or their weakness is something the counter-pick plays as one of their strengths--sometimes both--and that makes the match-up easier for the counter-pick.

When a champion--or an item or a specific interaction--is broken, that implies that it causes issues for counter-play. What would normally work either has too small a window of opportunity to properly work, or outright doesn't work because of the effectiveness of the broken champion/item/interaction.

Like when Warwick synergized way too well with Skirmisher's Sabre because it dealt flat true damage on each attack (and the true damage was ignoring shields because it was coded wrong). You couldn't really stop it, because he suppresses his target for 5 free attacks in ~2 seconds, it was adding 135-305 true damage to his ultimate before the other ~3 seconds where he could easily get in a couple more attacks, basically putting it on Ignite's level of damage (170-410) at a lower cooldown with an additional half-Exhaust effect.

That was a broken interaction.

i know this thread is old af, but imo, riot spends way to much attention to fixes when the esports crap shows up, why not pay attention to us little guys? :/
