He's a 450 ip, first time LoL players choice. But he's not that easy to play with as are ashe, garen or annie. So they are gonna make him a bit easier I'd say.

or perhaps do not engage a fight when his shield is up in the next spellcast? He is strong champion but he is far away from the need of rework. Other champions like Warwick are in desperate need of rework. Not to mention Yorick is also in the list right now but takes more time

Because he isn't in a decent spot. He's borderline broken in pro and high tier play and borderline useless in low tier play, and anytime he gets a buff or nerf we see him go over one of those two lines. His skill floor is ridiculous and he feels incredibly clunky. Despite this, he still feels like he has almost no possible counterplay when he's played by a good player as he sits and farms for 20 minutes and then just walks towards the enemy nexus while forcing the enemy team to back off and let him take an objective or get snared and melted by his combo.

What makes you think this rework with change that? He already got rework last year and now you think this will change? Other champions desperate need of rework

Because he isn't in a decent spot. It has been said it will be a VGU similar to GP's but smaller than Taric's. New model, animations, VO & an updated lore & kit.

While they haven't gave a specific ETA, they have said Ryze's VGU will be out before Yorick's.

If I am not mistaken , they said that it should be a little bigger then GP´s, who actually only had 2 major changes, so I am expecting around that as well. A Visual Update will come along the gameplay update (Thank fucking jesus) and hopefully a decent lore.

Ryze is pretty much the only mage champ i play next Ekko cause i main top and jung. Ryze feels already OP since he can scale off Ap and mana, coupled a shield from passive and with a low CD ult that give move speed and puts all other abilities on a 5+/- second CD it pretty broken if you know what to do.
