[Proposal] LP gained for MVP and lost for LVP after game!
At the end of ranked games, both teams should vote for the most and least valuable players on the enemy team. The MVP and LVP gain and lose additional LP as follows:
Winning Team MVP will gain bonus LP [e.g. 10LP] for contributing the most to the win. Winning Team LVP will receive reduced LP gain for risking the team's win. [but they will still get LP]
Losing Team MVP will receive reduced LP loss for having contributed the most for the team. [i.e. they will still lose LP for the loss, but not as much] Losing Team LVP will lose additional LP for being the greatest contributor to the loss.
Reasoning:
-
Players can't vote for their own MVP and LVP because they are not as objective as the enemy team.
-
The idea is to factor in aspects of matches that MMR algorithms can't reliably account for. In other words, there are important factors of the game that only the players will understand
-
The current honour and reporting systems don't seem to affect players' behaviour much. I think this is because honour means very little for more experienced players [there are simply no worthwhile benefits] and because reports often punish players by giving them Queue bans or something else that amounts to a rap on the knuckles. This results in players not caring about honour or being reported.
-
This proposed MVP-LVP system will reward/punish using what players in ranked really value: LP. This could actually lead to improvement in behaviour and increased effort put into games.
Admin:
-
Three votes are needed to grant MVP or LVP status. Otherwise, LP will be granted using the "normal" method.
-
Pre-made parties cannot give more than 2 votes to the same person.
-
LVP penalties can be lower than MVP bonuses to factor in mercy [but maybe not -.-]
-
Voting is compulsory [otherwise people will ignore it after the game like they often do with honour and reports]
Thoughts? I know this idea isn't perfect :/
