Warwick nerfed too hard? Comments? Suggestions? Agree or Disagree?

Patch 4.21 notes

As we all know Warwick was a beast in 4.20 and had to be taken care of. But I believe riot took it way too far. I could care less about his w nerf, but the longer ult cd (nerf prior to 4.21), lower ult damage, and nerfs to his primary jungle items (especially tweaked for ww) are just way too much for ww to deal with all at once. Riot is nerfing ww as a CHAMP, but he is the same champ as before the new SR. What they need to do is nerf ww as a JUNGLER. Basically, what made warwick powerful in patch 4.20 was his sustain. That is what should be nerfed. Warwick will almost always have the least damage in the game. He isn't valued for his damage as much as he is valued for his utility (suppression, objective control). What I would have done is maybe tweak his passive to make him sustain less against monsters, make him rely mostly on his q for sustain in the jung, which in turn will make him choose whether he wants to spend his mana in the jung or during ganks. Or just take away his passive sustain from monsters all together. I mean there are hundreds of ways to address the actual issue (sustain), instead of nerfing ww in areas that are not the problem.

What do you guys think? Do you think warwick is still playable as he is now in the jung? Do you think he needs to be nerfed more? less? leave him be? Maybe you have your own ideas on how to balance him out?

I would love to hear your suggestions and opinions :)

Thanks for the replys guys.

Please understand that I am not saying warwick should return to the way he was in 4.20 because there is no question he was overpowered.

But when riot nerfed him they attacked him from all angles:

Devourer was nerfed. The way skirmishers worked was changed in a way to hurt warwick (when from on hit true damage to a 3 sec true damage burn). Nerfed ult. Twice. Nerfed w.

**I do agree that devourer was overpowered in general and not just on warwick and that was an appropriate nerf. Same even with the skirmisher nerf. But in light of those you would think that the ult base damage reduction would no longer be needed. I mean keep the w nerf. keep the ult cd nerf. But you already hurt his damage like crazy nerfing his main items. No need for more. **

While I agree there is little counterplay for ganks (besides vision), that is what ww is known for: powerful ganks. As soon as the other team groups it is very rare you will get your full ult off as the other team can easily cancel it with cc. You also have qss. I mean there is obviously counter-play which is why ww isn't being used at a high level (excluding patch 4.20 of course).

rewmove sabre. Then warwick can have his unnerfed self back. Sabre makes him broken.

I will admit that since his nerf he has significantly easier to kill with champions like Xin Zhao, though if he shows up to fight, let's say, Ashe she's dead. Warwick with MS runes + boots completely negates Ashe's 35% movement speed reduction.

Gonna be honest here, Warwick is, in my opinion, one of the most unfun champions to play against in league.

He presses R, he is on you and there is nothing you can do as your health slwoly whittles down, presses q, dead. No conunterplay.

And of course if you somehow live to flee, he has his W so good luck with that.

Rather have him in a limited capacity than be the unkillable monster he was.

Honestly, he fills his niche jut fine. Warwick is meant to be THE premiere sustain jungler with low gank potential until 6, and fairly-sustained gank potential until the enemy buys a quicksilver sash.

He is still that. I would MAYBE lower his ult cd, but otherwise he is in a good place, I feel. He does what he is meant to do, and he does it well.

Warwick is supposed to be baby's first jungler. His kit gives him everything you need to have strong dueling potential and sustain that you can use without having to worry about managing resources to do it. He shouldn't be a power pick, and I'd rather see Warwick overnerfed than underestimated. We've seen how oppressive it can be when extremely straightforwards kits are given the opportunity to abuse mechanics.

They could delete Warwick and I wouldn't consider it an overnerf. I've been saying this well before the 4.20 patch. Warwick is the most stupidly braindead champion in the game and under no circumstance should he ever be in even a playable state until he has been reworked.

You obviously never witnessed multiple Warwick assassins who just kills a single squishy simply by having these simple steps:

  1. Get sufficient Devourer stacks
  2. Hit ult
  3. Hit Q
  4. You have slain an enemy.

He may still retain his sustain right now, but I think in terms of damage output, he may fall hard, or skilled players would pull him up again.
