Smite might not be up. WHY START BARON WHEN YOU SMITE ON CD? Situational, blanket statements like that can be misleading. If you watched Cowsep's recent stream, his team scored an ACE (with an enemy Yasuo having half the respawn timer of the others). He started baron, their mf joined in but the rest of the team went on to derp around doing their own things. Smite was used to win that teamfight, it was not up. bruiser yi + mf not enough dps, yasuo respawned and 1v2'd the 2 half hp people doing a nearly dead baron (probably within smite range), and aatrox tp'd in at the end to feed him a 3rd kill. Baron lost, and game ended immediately after. I believe he got flamed for not smiting.

That wasn't Cowsep's fault for calling baron without having smite, he used smite to win the teamfight. It was a legit call with 5 enemy dead, and baron could have been dps'd down without smite even before Yasuo could make it to baron pit. But because everyone went to do their own thing, leaving one of the lowest sustain damage adc (IIRC it was lethality mf too LOL) with a yi building tanky to do baron, it took too long.
