@Meddler, I am ok with the plants, but why not keep the jungle buffs too?
I mean, maybe tweak them, but i really liked the buffs, there was more diversity before in my opinion. I (and many people) dislike the randomness of the plants.

It was explained in the very first plant announcement....
They don't want to make the game more and more complex over time, so in order to add plants, they had to remove something to keep the overall complexity level constant. So in the end, despite the fact that you and I and them and everyone like the Smite buffs, they removed them to make room for the Plants.
I laymans terms, most people figured out how to play the jungle and Riot HATES that.
