Would you guys rather have long queue times but better matchmaking or just keep it the way it is
its honestly frustrating to play jungle and be matchmade with trolls so i decided to see whether if people feel the same

There was a point that was true
season 5. guess what happened.
Everyone on reddit and boards cried so fucking much about long ass matchmaking and how they'd "rather just get in a game"
now we have this garbage.
Longer queue times. Better Matchmaking NO AUTOFILL.
I want team builder back.
You're basically waiting for 20 minutes if you get a gorilla on your team anyway, so why waste the time in game
I loved team builder, nothing was more satisfying than declining a teemo from joining my team. I waited 20-30 minutes some time and never fussed because the game I would get was typically good. Often the wait was less than the new dynamic queue since now I have to go through 5 ready checks to get to a lobby, then repeat theee times to get a lobby with no dodgers. However they can’t have both queues because it would split the player base too much. Or can they? They could do blind pick team builder to replace the current blind pick queue. Presto, no more soraka jungles in my life.
If your frustration is with trolls, how will the matchmaker accurately make sure there is a balance of trolls on each team?
Im a supp main and que times are a joke for me but i would gladly spend 10s more if it ment i get less trolls
Yes. Mathematically it makes more sense. If I am guaranteed a loss because our team has bronze, silver, and gold on the same team, then I have lost an average of 30 minutes of my time for nothing. At least with proper matchmaking I have a fair chance of winning so it's not automatic wasted time before the game even starts.
You cannot have fair moba games based on measuring average total mmr of the whole team. It never works and only leads to toxicity. Because you dont know who is getting paired against who in lane. You're also not able to factor in how some roles are inherently more important than others in terms of ability to solo carry. So that gold assassin in mid lane up against a bronze enemy is going to autowin the entire game off snowball power alone, especially if the gold player on the enemy team is only playing support.
Only matchmaking where every single player is the same mmr will result in fair games.
This is exactly what faker was saying about challenger tier. Its no longer a real measure of skill when you're getting diamonds on teams.
One of the reasons I didnt like playing HotS was their obession with having the fastest possible queue times, so who won or lost a match often came down simply to which team got stuck with more newbs on it. Especially since its so much harder to solo carry in that game.
It shouldn't be possible that after just one minute of queue time in Plat II I get matched with two autofills and a skill difference from plat v to dia v
Keep it the way it is. Youre going to get trolls regardless, and people would complain more about longer queue times. You all say you wouldnt.... but you would. You all do.
The matchmaking in this game is utter garbage. Would rather have that long queue instead of stomping or getting stomped hardcore.
We tried long queue times with flex queue. It was pretty awful. I am fine waiting a few minutes but waiting for 7-8 for my position isn't ok in my book.
For the love of god and all that is holy up the queue times. Games are so poorly matched it's ridiculous.
This really only affects platinum and above though...
I don't know too much about how it was in high MMR matches, but prior to season 6 in gold and silver MMR and even in most of my normal games, all of my matches were instant queues. Now, i don't believe that matchmaking is the best that it can be, but I don't believe the solution that everyone is asking for is possible.
If we are comparing prior to season 6 and season 6 onward (disregarding season 8 because I believe the problems we are experiencing this season, in silver and gold MMR, have nothing to do with matchmaking but rather with game design and balance, but that's a discussion for another thread), matchmaking in silver and gold was leaps and bounds better after the introduction of role selection in season 6. My opponents recieved the role they wanted and thus everyone was more evenly matched. Every single one of my games were higher quality (disregarding balance) because everyone was playing what they were good at.
Now I understand that this doesn't work the same way in diamond+ because of the significant numbers difference between the two cases, but I don't believe that extending queue times will help. It's not that extending queue times won't increase the quality of the games, but by offering infinite time to find an evenly matched game, the games are most certainly going to be higher quality, but if you take into account that challenger games prior to role selection were already unbearably long, if you wanted evenly matched challenger games with role selection included, with no autofill because obviously with autofill said person won't be playing at their best and thus not the most even game, the queue times will be beyond unbearable not to mention the impact that might have on challenger streamers.
In the end, the question shouldn't be whether we want riot to make matchmaking better by increasing queue time, but whether we are willing to sacrifice role selection in order to have higher quality games.
Of course, this is just a high MMR issue and these issues don't particularly plague the lower portion of the spectrum.
Yes because I either play against monkeys, or I play with monkeys.
Most people will say they would rather have longer que times but as soon as we get it they'll start saying they want shorter que times
The problem is that trolls are usually catalogued by behavior that is conditional, such as not getting a preferred role, so even if wait times were extended, there would still be trolls.
It was an issue mostly due to challenger tier games having insanely long queues. From their perspectives, game are more of a coin flip cause if one team happens to land some D3 guy in it, he's gonna get rolled and they're gonna lose.
Seems like a "We want shorter queues..... oh wait not like this."
What faker said..
I just had 3 jungle mains in a match, I would love a longer que time to get players who want their role...
This game is just absolute fucking shit thats why
Here's the problem: RIOT could increase the queue times and you would probably still get matched with that 'troll' that you are complaining about. The system doesn't need a lot of time to match players unless they are in Diamond. You see the 'troll' doesn't mind waiting for games. Trolls are willing to wait hours to get in a game with you (yes, you read that correctly, hours). The system doesn't have magical 'troll detection'. It doesn't filter out this player you are trying to avoid by letting you wait longer in queue for a match. The system looks for someone to match this 'troll' with and it will match that 'troll' with you sometimes because it has to find a match for the 'troll'.
So increasing queue times will just make everyone spend more time not playing the game and the only players that don't mind spending needless amounts of time waiting are players that don't know any better and... trolls.
The matchmaking system needs a complete overhaul not tweaks. Riot fucked it up a long time ago and has only tried to bandaid it since then because their ego gets in the way of them admitting they suck at matchmaking. Hell, they are so delusional they thought dynamic queue was the best thing since sliced bread.
LoL only caters to the rank game and ranked community. The casual player is not in their market base. This is what they have been trending .. I used to love this game. I Started in season 2
I've been asking for this since team builder went away. I may have had to wait 30 minutes to find a game, but dammit, every game I played then was great...I knew who my teammates were going to play, if our comp was good, etc. Got the role I wanted too.
That depends, how long are we talking?
Clearly different people have different views on acceptable wait times in relatin to ensuring a specific role.
I'd like to see a scale, either in settings, or when joing a queue, to choose how long you're willing to wait for for a guarenteed position. It could range from "I just want the game to start" to "I don't care how long I have to wait to get my role.".
Keep it the way it is but balance the fucking game maybe????
I would be fine with a 5-10m wait like it was back before S5. Back then you actually got games that you didnt know who was going to win until 5m before the end of the match and then it was still could switch if there was a Throw.
@thread What if matchmaking went through stages? Stage one: People in the same specific rank (IE if youre gold 1, you get matched with other gold 1 players) Stage two: People in the same general rank (IE golds fight against golds) Stage three: team MMR
It would make things a lot more fair and would increase the general skill level because... You learn nothing from getting roflstomped and learn a lot from losing to someone the same skill as you.
I'm bronze as shit and it feels like i'm constantly being matched with gods, so yeah, I'd like games where my opponents are as bad as me plz.
No way matchmaking is so flawed by accident.
Yes. Absolutely.
The game takes 40 minutes to play. I'm fine queuing for more than 10 seconds.
Absolutely. I'd GLADLY wait 5-10 minutes. Hell, I'll gladly wait 20.
I'd love to play with players that know how to ward.
