Why Bots Continue to Live

The reason people may notice that a bot account doesn't get banned and keeps on botting is because it only affects the 'lesser' game modes so it doesn't affect the greater majority of players. In doing this they can allow the bots to level up and then sell off the account. Once they realize the account is no longer being played by a bot they can assume the account has been purchased then can go ahead and ban it. If people are consistently losing their accounts that they've purchased, who's going to continue buying them? This is their attempt at killing off the market which, if there is no market for it, there would be no reason for people to continue botting. Problem with this is that it'll be a very long process and it negatively affects the people who play the non normals/ranked games.

Why not use the same CAPTCHA to fight bots? I would assume the success is decent and thats why many websites use it. Use picture to ask for answer question correctly during champ select... etc What I am really surprised is their ability to program the bots, doesn't it require hack the game to successfully program the bots?

Indeed. it is annoying for us in unranked PvP games trying to level up. Interestingly, all of these bots that I have encountered all have a pattern and they are getting to be more frequent (like every game). I have some screenshots to prove this is happening, and the names, but I'm obligated not to show them. Unfortunately, you can't spot them by the names alone, since they are randomly generated using actual names with common number/other replacements and additions. These guys all have the same summoner icon, are unresponsive and do repetitive actions in game. The icons and similar builds are what made me more suspicious than if I just got bad players (all 4 on my team were like this once, but didn't get a screen shot, unfortunately). I already supposed that whomever is doing this is trying to get accounts leveled up and selling them, so glad to hear I'm not nuts. Not sure if this is the same or different from what people have seen in the past, but this just got absolutely ridiculous in the last week or so.

For those who can't see the image for whatever reason, the builds are all multiples of dorans and berserker, occasionally statikks. item 1055item 1055 item 1055 item 3006 item 3006 item 3087

I'm surprised I cant find more threads about this. I've been playing with bots for weeks and it just makes the game not fun to play. I've found lately that the names do typically follow a pattern: two dissociated words, both capitalized and with no space in between. I just played a game with bots named TealParachute and SadBreeze.

I found a response from RIOT regarding the problem on Kotaku from back in October '14. It seems that they made some changes to their RAF program to combat the problem. Alas, over six months later, the problem is still huge. Perhaps its time for another strategy.

I am just guesstimating here, but it seems that lately it has been almost 1in4 or 1in3 games has at least one bot in 3v3. I understand that it must be difficult for Riot to identify the Bot Accounts. Myself and everyone in these games that I have talked to report these bot encounters, but since there is no specific "Bot Account" option perhaps these are not getting to the right people. Also, it would seem to me that a good "bot check" could be something simple such as the random numbers or letters system that is required for verification to this very site. Requiring a "human check" perhaps to queue in to a match could possibly alleviate this growing problem.

This Bot Experience does make the game less enjoyable for sure. I know that Riot cannot only be concerned with the Ranked/SoloQ play. There is a community out there that enjoys ARAM and TT and Dominion, but when one never really knows if it will be a fairer, competitive match with "real people" it begins lessen the fun and anticipation that is League of Legends.
