Why is Riot forcing Autofill down players throats?

So i just came back from not playing for 3 weeks to find out there is autofill enabled for all leagues, and i got support on my first game. For reference, since the start of season 3 i have never played support or mid, once or twice ive been forced to, didnt go well, but i refuse to play the roles for that very reason of not wanting to hinder my team. I get support in this game, and i ask my team to switch, i had to throw my duo partner into the support role, he plays it decently, but that required a trade of jungle to mid to allow me to jungle. Our jungler neglected to mention he had never played mid ever. He goes and plays mid Kat not knowing how the rework goes, and goes 5-13-3. We lose the game of course, alot of things went wrong, me and my duo sustained well through the game and played well.

But this begs the question of why autofill? I am fine with waiting 8 minutes for a queue to pop so i get one of my main 3 roles and not get absolutely destroyed in a game just purely because of autofill RNG. Turns out we had our team with 3 people on main roles, 1 on off role, and 1 on a role they had never played before. They had 5 mainroles, its an autoloss in most circumstances of even skill between players, im not going to get into flex queue, because that is a whole nother monster, ill stick to just autofill. Its not that i dont like faster queue times, its like many said when it came to autofill in higher leagues, that they just didnt want it cause they didnt want to roll a dice going into champion select. I dunno, i just feel like its bad for the game at lower elos.

if they dont and you sit in queue longer then 3 mins you will cry and complain it takes to long to get a game

I admittedly started around the time of Team Builder. What was it like back then? I don't think you did anything more than call "MID!" in the chat first. Auto fill seems much better than that even.

Because it's preseason and they are trying things out. Simple as that.

I prefer autofill. I dont mind supporting im skill in every lane :T Get outta your mains and learn how to play another role maybe you will respect people who play that role more ;).

Because support is so damned painful to play that few players want to play it. Hence autofil, to spread the burden

I think while you and I wouldn't mind waiting that long, a lot of people do. Autofill was put in place because a lot of people complained about long queue times.
