Blue Essence not going up?

I've played several games of 5v5 PvP and also 5v5 PvB, and my Blue Essence still reads 70 essence. I won't be able to buy new characters without it, right?

Am I missing something on how that goes up?

You primarily get blue essence from leveling up and disenchanting resulting champ shards, rather than getting blue essence per game. That said, you do get some BE for your first win of the day (edit: which is only a thing at level 15+ these days I believe).

So the twenty champs I need to play Draft mode, is that possible within 30 levels or is that something that happens way later?

You can if you buy cheap as shit champions.

Regular draft includes free week rotation champion as part of the 20, so yes, you'll be able to to do that well within 30 levels, possibly even if you spend on expensive champs (don't recall how much BE 1-30 gives now and how many outright free champs you're given).

Ranked draft requires actual ownership, which should be possible if you buy cheaper champs. Worth noting that it's most cost efficient to upgrade champion shards into permanents with BE, rather than buy champs directly from the store, so if you happen to get a champ shard for a champion you think you really want, hold on to it in order to upgrade it once you have the BE.
