I just bought Riven, and out of EVERY SINGLE OTHER CHAMPION I have played, she is the hardest. You need perfect patience, timing, items, and skill division. You screw one thing up and you die. When I see a Riven carry a game now, I gain instant respect for them. I feel if they played any other champion, they would get 3 penta kills in one normal game at least. Like, I actually played about 6 games with her and I haven't gotten to set off my ult properly yet. Never get kills in the laning phase from getting poked too much. I can NEVER set off my 3rd Q in the right direction. I always waste my E. I only use my W on minions because I can never get close enough to the person to click it. If you play Riven and disagree, I honestly don't know what to say.

I do kinda hate Riven but have played her so will also admit she takes skill to play well.

You'll never convince the anti-Riven circlejerk that playing Riven requires anything more than mashing Q. I've seen some hilarious things claimed about Riven on this board, people claiming she's easy is frankly boring after you see someone claim she has infinite mobility, or that she should have a lower CDR cap than every other champion in the game because fuck Riven, I guess. Just learn her as best you can and ignore the weird cult of people who will never forgive her for daring to move at 450 move speed occasionally. Making threads about it is pointless.

So, no, Riven is not easy to play at any competent level, but... Meh that's not really a balance topic, or news.

It's not about how difficult she is to play, it's the fact that once you've learned how to use her decently there's not much that the enemy team can do if she gains even a bit of a lead.

As snowballing goes there are far worse champions. Riven does not have resets, or infinite jumps with insane sustain, and can never become untargetable.

Riven has a very high skill cap. She also has an extremely low skill floor so she's very easy to just pick and play. You shouldn't have problems playing her at a low level but she does get increasingly harder. Problem is she's very easy to smash your face into the keyboard and win lane whilst having poor Riven mechanics which is what I think most people dislike about her.

Riven is downright underpowered.

you can't do anything with her in the lane phase. you have to build her straight damage and she ever sucks at that now with how long her combo takes to kill someone and how squishy she is.

Learn her animation cancels and match ups, she actually isn't weak, just hard to use effectively. Practice will fix that, lol. There's a significant win rate discrepancy between new Riven players and people who have played over a hundred games with her. Significant

So, yeah, just practice man. She's perfect where she is, just takes more investment than most other tops.

I wish her shield scaled with HP so she could have some off-builds. I don't play her, but I don't like the fact that she's basically forced to build one stat and doesn't benefit from others (even AS builds aren't encouraged since she's supposed to cast between autoattacks for her passive).
