Champions should be free

OK riot, I think it's time to make all champions free to play. The current state of the game with 130+ champions makes it feel absolutely awful for new players to join. I am not a new player. I own every champ. But if I was a new player, i would probably install the game, look how many champions I need to buy, and say fuck this, I'm gonna go play DoTA 2 where I don't need to grind for months of my life just to be able to play all of the characters in the game. It's not like champion sales are your only source of income. Skin sales, rune pages, runes, all of these would ensure that Riot keeps making money hand over fist. I just feel that the only people being screwed over by having to buy champions is new players, and it feels bad to me that they should have such a massive hurdle to jump just to be able to play the game like everyone who's been here for a while. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

PS. WTF does it STILL not show summoner cooldowns in the champion select screen?

You don't play have to play "a little" though. You have to play hundreds of hours...

Guess what....that kind of grind is in a lot of MMOs too... WoW has some insane grinding for certain mounts or gear.

So grinding for IP to buy a champ is nothing new to gamers... So try again.....

The difference is that the gear you grind for in MMOs makes you more powerful. Having champions doesn't make you better, it just lets you play the game.

Dota is the only Moba where you don't have to grind to get a certain character(s)

Heroes of the Storm- Grind or Pay

Smite- Grind or Pay

Deadbreed (a decent new Mobas involving demonic creatures/zombies)- Grind or Pay

Hmm...so you have issues with every Mobas but Dota... I guess you need to go back to Dota then..

I literally said nothing about runes and skins being free, stop being toxic. In fact I specifically mention that runes and skins will not be free so there are still things to buy with IP and RP.

Well, no, of course not. No one said you needed every champion. Some people want to have them all because it's exciting to have different champs to play every game and never get tired of them. But at the rate it takes to get every champion, it's going to take a really long fckin time especially for people like me who don't have time to get a ton of ip.

I agree. When you look at the landscape of games these days we're seeing games with some simplicity take over. For example, league got overtaken by overwatch in the most played game in korea. ANOTHER example is the vast popularity of CS:GO with the ability to quickly learn the game. These two games have access allowing players to all aspects of major in-game game characters (OW) and weapons (CS:GO) Having to spend all that time saving up to buy champs is limiting the players potential to dive further into the game. I too agree that it is extremely difficult for people with new accounts to catch on unless they have the ability to play this game 24/7 or happen to get hooked onto this game immediately.

lol hextech. What a joke. You call someone a noob one game and you lose the ability to obtain hextech loot for like 3 months. And the "random" loot is never anything you want or need. It's designed to frustrate you into spending money. That's all.

Most champs are waaaaay overpriced in IP. 6300 points is what, 100 games? At 40 minutes per game. 60 hour grind for one champ lol. Riot must be owned by jews.

Exactly. It's not like getting IP is super fast or anything. And then every new champ that comes out is another 60+ hours to grind. That's once their price drops down from 7800 of course.

The problem is that this isn't only used for profits. While you can buy champions with RP, not having all champs available immediately allows Riot to have a gate for new players to get through before they can jump into ranked - Which people still complain about, I might add.

Having runes available is something I would agree wholeheartedly with. Having champions unlocked is a totally different story.

You can get champ shards from the hextech and combine 3 to make a new toon, I feel like there shouldn't be free champs otherwise I wouldn't spend my IP on anything.

But I need the grind or else a get bored. What's the point of playing this game for hours upon hours if I don't feel like I've earned anything
