Yorick possible Rework

We all know Yorick is in need of a rework. His main strategy is to spawn ghouls from a far and get free slows and sustain. Get too close and he just spams all his ghouls and gets free bulk, wait too long to take him on and you have to fight him twice with his ult. Mana problems slow him down but it's not really that he's breaking the game, but making it not fun. While I'm sure Riot has their own plans to fix him up, I thought I'd share some ideas.

The idea of the champion is a bulky mage who summons undead spirits to help him in battle. The current Yorick does this fine but all you need to do to win lane is spam W, heal with E and no one can dodge it. Even after the casts the ghouls come after to do more damage and effects which can feel unavoidable. Simply making the ghouls skill shots would be boring and tear down the original ideas of the champion and just make him like everyone else.

I feel his ultimate can be left the same but possibly mixed up some. It's unique where it doesn't stop death, just leave the door open for you to finish the team fight. It can also be used to make someone reconsider 1v1 you when your damage is double. Perhaps make the clone cost a chunk of Yoricks health making him less likely to live if he has to use it on himself while still being helpful to an ally ADC.

One idea to change up his skills would be to move his ghouls to a passive. His current passive gives bonus stats for having the ghouls but lets face it that's easy to abuse and just encourages him to spam the ghouls more when a fight starts. -Passive - after 5 auto attacks, Yorick spawns a ghoul a distance away who moves towards the target he last hit, the closest to them if they die, or just move to that location. They're slow so enemy champions could keep moving and only take 1-2 hits from them or die in one auto attack. -Q: On hit damage/"omen of war" more damage - I thought of leaving it as is but without the ghoul but then I thought maybe make it a leap or charge, which might actually make him more mobile. Instead, maybe a short range burst attack. In any case to prevent it from just being the same skill but no ghoul give Yorick a temporary damage buff or some cleave. As a short range area spell it could have a short cooldown for team fights. -W: Slow - Keep it as an aoe but let it last longer, now minions wont get side tracked and you don't have to run 500 feet to avoid getting touched every cast. Would be nice to discourage it from being spammed by lowering damage to over time or keep the cooldown long. -E: Life Steal - Similar to W forming an aoe but does damage after a delay and that damage done will heal Yorick and give a short 5% life steal boost. Again, no targeted shot on the enemy, it's either on the minions or you have to aim right or chain it with the slow.

Because Yorick has to get up close to the minion wave to set off his ghouls (and they don't just come after the enemy) he puts himself in more risk. Of course just spamming the spells will drain mana but you can get some more done and losing mana doesn't just become home long you stay in lane, you're allowed to get caught out or move too far up. You can't just spam ghouls to get health you're either in the fight (Q and E to out damage them) or use W to slow the pursuer. R left as it is won't save you, just cut your life down and give you more damage and if you still die you can atleast try to finish the job assuming they used their mobility to chase you.

Another idea I had was to make him like Sona where the ghouls had effects around him and would only travel a short distance and only one type at a time. Maybe not as original but I still feel the best way to get Yorick back into being fun to play is move his range shorter and make him unable to rely on ghouls to do the work for him. He has the tools to be good, damage, slow, sustain, a strong ult, but the way they come out keeps the enemy from hurting Yorick himself and instead retreat from the W and E ghouls.

That's my take on fixing this champion. Any ideas yourself?
