Support Solo Queue max. aspirations?
Im a support solo queue, so I'm very team dependant...Is it even possible to rank up to nice ranks? I'm silver.

Pick a mage support, take over lane if the ADC fck's up, soak up lane farm while your team thoughtlessly chase for kills, transition into a full APC.
you are going to have trouble climbing with support as opposed to just carrying yourself. i consider myself to be better than a lot of supports at low elo, but still, even while having 75-90% kill participation sometimes, i can't win.
Two promotion games with trash teams =S Playing support with more kills and dps than my adc feeding leaving me alone bot...I don't know how this makes sense =S
PS: Now I see...1st promotion game was with a bronze who fed hard... 2nd promotion game my adc feeder with less damage than all team mates...was bronze too...
Swell...keep trying...
PS2: 2 queued teams 2 bronze adcs...so now im paired with bad teams...again...xD
As a solo support person, I didn't find it hard to climb out of silver into gold after my placements, but I think it depends on the style of support.
Supports like leona and similar engage focused champs I feel require team follow up, which isn't necessarily something that can be relied upon when solo at lower elos. "Supports" that are just built as ap mages (lux, zyra, brand, annie, etc) can work to sortof carry yourself, but you'll be gold starved most likely and would probably be better off playing the mid role.
Disengage/sustain supports on the other hand (janna, raka, ali, etc) I feel work fine at lower elos and as solo, as you can do your job more or less reactively instead of requiring follow up, plus your kit essentially revolves around getting teammates out of trouble, and in low elos they'll be getting into trouble a lot. Janna was my particular ride out of silver (and I anticipate out of gold too), and being able to jump in when my adc decides it's time to 1v3 and ult everyone away has been very useful. Teammates might be crazy at times, but if you save them enough times eventually they'll get lucky and get some kills, and if you deny their kills then you can even get bad teams to snowball.
You can carry just fine as support. But you can't do it the same way you carry as other roles.
Some people say "support can't carry cause you can't 1 v 5" but really, no role can 1 v 5 if your team is REALLY way worse than the others. So just play your role better than other people at your elo and you'll win more than you lose.
Look at it this way: the Bronze/Silver ADCs you are supporting are going to be trash the majority of the time. Even if you are a godly support, you won't be able to help them because they simply lack skill.
When I was stuck in Silver last season, if I got support, I played more mages like Zyra and Morgana... focused on getting kills for myself and carrying the lane by being incredibly scary for the enemy. Also roamed and got the other laners some kills.
Supporting in Bronze-Silver (and low Gold) is generally a horrible experience. It's even worse now with all of the vision nerfs. You rely on your team to be not bad, or not as bad as the enemy... it's far easier to win from a solo lane.
