Is Tahm Kench any good?

Lacks any sorta gap closer to get close to an enemy to either eat him or stun gets kited to oblivion. But I don't think he is terrible he just isn't anything special.

Saving adc's and baiting people with your shield is godly

Just wait until 5.16, he'll do 400 damage autos with Titanic Hydra while going full tank.

Yes, and hes a really good support. being able to save the adc by eating them is wonderful. Hes a pretty good top, because he has a huge synergy with magic dps items, but lacks a hard engage a lot of other top lane tanks have.

Tahm is amazing, especially top: his E makes him damn near immortal in lane, his W is a HUGE amount of burst damage if someone's dumb enough to stay in range with three stacks, and his Q gives him a decent poke, a good way to keep someone close when a gank comes around, and it's a good ranged last hitter in a pinch. Once he hit's 6, his damage skyrockets, to the point where you can build full tank and put out SERIOUS damage to anything that doesn't immediately leave your magnificent presence. Speaking of presence, even if you don't bring friends with you when you ult, that ult gives you a WIDE presence, especially when combined with the Top Lane Gold Standard, Teleport. He's slow, sure, but a Righteous Glory or a Dead Man's Plate'll get you where you want to be pretty quick, and the latter gives a LOT of the stat Tahm likes most!

Plus, he's a Louisiana Aristocrat Catfish. That's the best.

Tahm is good, but just like Bard, he is underestimated and a little bit tricky to play. Being melee and very squishy in the early game can make it frustrating.
