> Do we really need ingame chat?

NOTE: To avoid further suggestions, I know about mute button, mute all, not joining all chat as well as ignoring it. Pre/post game chat sure but ingame?

With all the options to ping something, didn't chat jsut became a tool for flamers and toxicity to spread its agenda? I've been in game since the beginning and I have to say in the past years I could probably coun't the amount of times I or my teammates used chat for gameplay on both hands (well I'm exaggerating but probably not much).

> Why not restrict chat the same way as voice chat only to premades and maybe custom games?

LoL community is not known for its kind side (if anything it's known for being the worst ;0) why keeping a tool which has been overtaken with pings for strategy purposes so long ago? If there is something missing addition of one or two more pings would probably solve it. Ping spam is easy to control with a simple if condition and timing in game unlike written chat (which we all know has been a failure since forever).

> I'm sure sometimes you have these nice moments when you chat with someone on oppossing team or such but be honest that's such a rare occassion just compare it yourself, how many times have you read: 'report, x9, report x9, troll, idiot, cancer, ...' and how many times: 'you bested me, hey that was fun'?

Note: You can ping your lvl, items, abilities, exp, ... Pretty much everything you need with icons for fun ;).

Has there been any info about chat from Riot, has it ever been considered to disable it for a while to test how much influence it would have in some games, have there been statistical data how much chat is needed/useful?

I'm not sure if this is a topic for discussion or more a topic for ask riot section but I doubt there would be that many queries about this topic for it being one of the three questions discussed by the higherups ;0.

Be frank guys no need to sugarcoat it if it's completely ridiculous just think about it and discuss if you can.

Thanks.

As much as I hate the toxicity and bming and all that, if you get rid of in game chat and you're not in a party that can talk then you get rid of the only possible way to communicate and strategize. There will be some people that are willing to put down the trash talk and actually work together to make plays happen even if they are few and far between. Not being able to communicate and strategize at all puts you at an even bigger disadvantage against premades then there currently is.

Get rid of in game chat and you'll find the game is a really boring and lonely experience.
