Itemizing vs Veigar

I'm a Ahri main and I have a huge problem playing vs Veigar. I am essentially locked out of building high AP damage items, I find myself being forced to build MR Items Merc Treads is a must, then I have to build and most likely too. This allows me to survive Vegiar's burst up for awhile but my damage really drops off as a result, I can't burst people down at all anymore, Even if I could I can't actually go in because Vegiar will just put up his Event Horizon, and instantly kill everyone stuck inside.

Now I beileve Veigar needs to be nerfed, but until that happens I gotta deal with it, but what do I do? Do I build MR and just hope to poke and surivive? or do I just build full AP with Death Cap, Luden's, Zhonyas and just hope to god I get a kill or two before he kills me with one R?

U dont really need all those. Cleanse summoner and Zhonyas are enough. Basically if he manages somehow to stun you, although he shouldnt be able with your Q speed, you can remove stun with cleanse, then if he ultis Zhonya. He will drop W right on top of u, so u have to quickly move with R, charm him and nuke him. Its more of a skill matchup than certain champion being op. Whoever outplays other better wins.

Well if you're getting caught by his stun every 12 seconds then you kinda deserve to die.

And if you get trapped inside (not stunned) you're kinda dead anyway because he can W that covers a lot of the area, and R is instant cast on you..

Yea, roughly 30% of it, leaving a full 70% of the cage to use as dodging space.

You don't have to get caught by it every time. But the fact is Veigar can cast it 17 times before your cleanse comes off cooldown.

You're missing the point. The point is even if you dodge 5 boxes, that doesn't matter if the 6th one hits you. You're arguing that you get hit by it every single time which is just outright stupid and not the point that was brought up. This same logic applies to a ton of champions. You can dodge Lux and Morg bindings 90% of the time but it only takes that one hitting to get you killed.

You do realise that your Q gives u huge move speed boost? Cleanse is just in case if your nose itches and he uses that moment of weakness and drop sneaky cage. If he manages to stun you couple of times, might i suggest you pick something less mechanically demanding like Garen?

Did you not read the next part? The fact is Veigar can cast it 17 times before Cleanse comes off CD

? It's just stupid reasoning. A) Veigar doesn't spam E on cooldown. B) with that reasoning, Ahri can cast her charm 17 times too (without CDR) against a target without cleanse. So what? C)I dont see how where your 12 seconds come from btw. The CD is 18/17/16/15/14. Unless he maxes stun or has a lot of CDR, it's not gonna be that in lane. And in lategame, it's actually 8.4 seconds with 40% cdr

Exactly. That's why nobody tries to claim that Cleanse counters Ahri. Even if you dodge a few charms, one is eventually going to hit you. Same goes for Veigar's Box.

But it does. It's just that it's stupid to have a reasoning on the number of times you can use it, because you only use it on occasions, where you see you can make a play. You don't spam it.

Meh, I've seen it a whole lot in competitive at one point (which was quite recently tbh). It's a really worthwhile summoner, if you have the reaction time to use it properly. So well, it's a matter of opinion. It's sure harder to use than other summoners, but that's it. Doesn't make it a bad summoner, unlike summoner 13 {{summoner:2}}

it was taken in competive play to counter certain champions' ults, not a comparatively low cd regular ability. It was taken when champs like Lissandra Sejuani were popular or on occasion on very immobile mid laners vs super high CC teams

I kinda doubt so, but I'm really too lazy to do a thorough search to take every competitive game with cleanse and make a percentage of those where an ult CC was the reason why one took cleanse. In any case, I remember Ahri's charm being cleansed several times.

Doesn't make it a bad summoner, unlike {{summoner:2}} Are you nutz??? These spells are op. is a scapegoat for new players that dont know how to conserve mana (And even some veteran players who suck at it as well) And for {{summoner:2}} You ever played Xerath or Ez or Eve? Spamming that spell to bush check and path assurance. And the ults???? Dont shoot blindly, shoot straight!!

first of all death threats will get you the Riot Ban hammer, second of all you can always count on the person doing the banning to ban out only his OP preferences first and maybe he will accommodate you. Basically I can't count on Veigar getting banned.

K then I got another cheat for you: Basically, when Veigar is picked on the enemy team, you have to click on the X- button in the top right corner of champ select, then you just need to click at the right place with your mouse and suddenly Veigar is gone. Alternatively, you can just look at the bottom left corner of your monitor, there should be the "League of Legends"- Logo. Right click that and close it. There you go. eZ counter

As a sometimes Veigar player and sometimes Ahri, a few things. One, don't walk into the cage. This should be obvious, but I will repeat. You see those wall indicators? Don't stand on those, and don't walk into those. Second, rush a Zhonyas. He might drop his cage, but with Zhonyas you can just press 1 (or whatever key you have it on) whenever you see his R animation. This will destroy his R (and likely his WQ), getting rid of his entire combo. Additionally, Veigar normally does not build many (if any) defence items, meaning if you can survive RQ (or zhonyas it) you can just RWEQRRQ Veigar before he can retreat or do anything else.

if i were ahri up against veigar, i would go

item 3174 -> item 3020 -> item 3116 -> item 3089 -> item 3135 -> filler generally a ludens or maybe a liandry. banshees or GA for sure if hes ahead of me.

grail is more than enough to keep him out of lane (assuming you can land your Q's) and the MR is plenty to handle his full kit and avoid getting 100-0'd without the junglers help (otherwise its a standard gank, and it didn't matter that he was veigar). the rylias ensures if you hit him hes going to die in the mid game, and the health helps tremendously in a 1v1 against him. theres no way for him to kill you at this point in the game.

after that its going to be late game, at which point you charm him, and you burst him, you do not get stunned/caught. otherwise he deserves to win, that is his win condition, stun you. if you are getting caught by it repeatedly then somethings up and you need to look at yourself.

overall, you charm him first, he dies, he stuns you, you die. problem? you're both squishy.

If you are worried about not building high AP items because of the scaling Veigar gets from the enemy's AP, you could try building more Magic Penetration. I know it's not a perfect fit but it allows you do more damage without assisting Veigar's scaling.

ok back on topic, I'm not sold myself on relying on Cleanse, but what MR items (if any) would you believe is sufficient in this matchup? Should I make item 3157 my priority over item 3285 ? also what about item 3089 is this a item I should save for late game or avoid altogether?
