Runes and Level unlocks

I don't know if there already is a board on this if there is somebody please send a link. Anyways runes are a big problem I see. So if you find a champion you really like then you try to get really good at him you found your main. Im still trying to find one but anyways you look for a good build until you learn how to build them yourself s you look and the say you need like armor runes. Then you look it up and find the rune page and see that you have to buy them and you don't have all the rune slots unlocked. So what problems do level unlocks and runes cause.

  1. Masteries give an advantage over other players with a full set or more points making the game less fun

  2. Runes unlocks give a player and disadvantage over other players that have everything and makes a person hat the game

  3. Runes cost ip and you cant really learn your main until you buy these runes which also takes away from the experince by making buy runes than saving for that one champion you really want

  4. Summoner power unlocks make you unable to play a role or play it correctly until you unlock it

The solution is to make runes free and refund every one with their ip they spent on these and give us all the summonor spells and to keep the level system but keep it for the gamemodes.

Honestly, when I was new to the game, unlocking runes and masteries was a huge part of the experience for me.

I always had that surge of excitement whenever I leveled up. What mastery would I be able to take this time? When I hit 20 and could finally buy tier 3 runes with the ~20k IP I had saved up. Etc...

Getting to 30 is a long grind (especially if you don't play all that often). There needs to be some level of progression along the way to make you feel like you're getting somewhere. I believe the grind to 30 is necessary because there's a lot to learn in this game. Even once you hit 30, odds are you're still pretty bad. You can spend a lot of time watching videos, reading about the game, etc... but it won't make you good until you've played a lot.

Rune pages and runes are quite expensive overall. Right now, there's a 2 for 1 rune page sale though (and you get the first 2 rune pages for free anyways). These typically come up 1-2 times per year. They also recently reduced the price of a bunch of the core tier 3 runes. I already owned 9 each of almost all of the discounted runes and got no refund for the decrease btw.

Runes make your champions stronger and are important, especially if you're going to play ranked. At lower levels and in normals, the difference isn't huge. At level 19 with no runes I could still beat level 30s with full rune pages (although it got a lot easier when I hit 20).

Runes allow you to customize and it's a decision - do you spend IP on runes to make the champions you have stronger, or do you spend it on champions to increase your champion pool?

I think a starter rune pack would be cool, give people tier 2 runes for free or something. Otherwise though, I think the system is okay. Over time you'll eventually gain the IP to purchase the runes you want. Your focus now should be on learning how to play and what playstyles you like.

Although I have to admit that runes are a little imbalanced in the jungle. It is pretty unfair that it's nearly impossible to jungle on a lot of champions at lower levels without access to flat armor runes to help them survive the first clear. Perhaps a simple "below summoner level 20, anyone with smite gets +5 armor at levels 1-4" would sort that out.

Unlocking stuff is fun. But if we want to keep it maby they should make it you play with people you own level or around it
