Why does Ryze have critical strike damage?

his e empowered q is coded as a crit.

also see karthus q, and anivias e.

i dont know if that still works, but they even used to be affected by randuins 10% crit damage reduction.

I got a 1.7k crit yesterday. And I was not even full AP
