Blitz is busted champ
He is broken and he should be banned till he get some nerfs. His Q is game changing ability, why is he allowed to have such a broken hitbox?

...look at the Ashe Volley, it has nothing to do with Blitzcrank's hook, but the hitbox of your own champion. This isn't a first person shooter where you can shoot between someone's legs, the hitboxes are much simpler than that.
Idk why you're getting downvoted. Maybe because theres a blitz in every freaking game. But yea i have dealt with the same exact problem with blitz, along with many more. I've seen that hook pull a full 45 degree corner to grab me at max range, ive seen it shoot 25% further than it should to grab me, and dont get me started on his scaling. 100% ap scaling and spuer low cd on his ult, this is a support people, not a mid lane. why should he be allowed to assassinate people?
blitz abusers are not in elo where they belong and this is a proof.
I think you could just be dealing with a lag/ping issue here. Lets say you had a ping of 100 ms, you would be 1/10th of a second further back then you are actually seeing in your client, which would have likely put you in range of the hook, which could be why you got hooked. I believe they have nerfed the hell out of Blitz's hook width over the years already...
Blitz hooks, just like every other skill shot in the game, effect you if they hit even a portion of your hitbox. And since you are moving away from the hook your champion appears to be leaning in that direction making it seem like the grab misses entirely. This of course has nothing to do with the actual hitboxes which are circles regardless of how a champion appears to have their body oriented.
These things are just more noticeable on Blitz hooks than other skill shots because the rope snaps to correctly link both champions and also because the impact of landing a hook is so much higher. After all I notice you didn't make this post complaining about that Ashe volley hitting you even though it is right where the hook is.
So blitz's hitbox is 'broken' in the same way every skill shot in the game is broken but it just feels far worse to be hit by.
Darius has a very large hitbox. Blitzcrank's Q grabs the hitbox. Even if it looks like it misses the model it will get the hitbox. His very leaned forward run animation is deceiving you into thinking you are safe but really the center of your hitbox is further back than you think it is.
This is why when I play Sona and end up Vs'ing Blitz I dont choose the DJ skin as it has a slightly larger hitbox than her other skins, especially on the ass side of the model. Theres this giant weapon sized hitbox on her ass side you cant see. Why using a skirted skin makes the ass side of the hitbox more apparent as well.
Took me a while to figure it out too, wondering how and why he was grabbing me even though he was missing my ass.
