In top lane, I've had trouble with being against a ranged while playing a melee. Usually in the top lane, I get matched against a ranged as a melee hence the reason i lose lane. I've never really understood how to beat a gnar, teemo, or gangplank (i'm counting him as ranged because he has a 4 second q cd i think). How do i beat ranged champs/ are there champions that can beat ranged champs?
Tips and tricks can help, but ultimately what you need is real experience and practice. I've been playing Garen since season 1, and I'll gladly pick him into Gnar, Gangplank, and Quinn. I know those matchups like the back of my hand, and rarely have issues with them.
I'd recommend finding a youtuber that mains whatever champion you're practicing and see what they do, or look up the subreddit for said champion. Those are the places I go when I need champion specific help.
To do that you learn the matchups. Melee champions can beat ranged champions at a lot of times, it's just some players don't know what that looks like so they don't.
Oh just go in on them, melee champs are most combo based then ranged, so if you are playing vs someone with equal skill to u just go in on them, as you’ll probably have more attack speed then them
