Countering Gnar

How do I do it? I haven't played much since Yasuo era, and I played against Gnar be. Nasus yesterday. His passive gave him so much bonus health, and it seemed to be as good as my ult at some points. I had no idea what he did and how he was supposed to be played. Luckily, I think I was playing against a terrible Gnar and I got a great amount of stacks. However, it was frustrating to lose my lane against someone I'm pretty sure I was better than.

Gnar is a lane bully (Resource-less ranged champ with low CD poke, a lane bully? No way who would have thought). He is going to shove you back as a Nasus, just going to happen. Farm up under you tower and wait for his rage to build then call for a gank. Between Mega-Gnars low move speed, Nasus's W and your jungler you should be able to get a kill, snowball this kill against him and boom you've won lane, get stacks, acquire elo.

But yeah you will likely need to call for a gank because he will just poke forever otherwise.

You don't counter ganr.

You wait for nerfs.

For Nasus in general though, just build full tank (cloth 5 into frozen heart) and steamroll.

fiora and riven shit on his early game, but once he gets randuins, tabi, and thornmail he shits on them.

Gnar's only hard counter is Fiora, she completely destroys him until he manages to get several armor items; she can also parry the auto that would proc his W, preventing him from trading back. Pantheon also destroys him early on but gets outscaled too quickly and is too immobile. Irelia can do really good vs him, but needs to know how to play the matchup properly as if you waste bladesurge you're gonna get kited badly and utterly wrecked. DO NOT pick Riven against Gnar unless you 100% know what you're doing and are really good at Riven, as if you make a single mistake early on Gnar is likely gonna kill you because Riven is SO squishy, get early armor along with some Doran's Blades and proceed to wreck you over and over and over and over. A good Gnar will make Riven's laning phase a hell.

Your best bet against Gnar is learning Irelia. Fiora is not reliable because a good jungler is going to camp Fiora. The same can happen to Irelia, but Irelia only needs Trinity as a core item and can then build tank and be useful as a stun bot, Fiora needs to build damage and if she loses lane she becomes useless.
