Concerning Veigar

Veigar is in a sticky spot right now. I've owned and played Veigar a lot for a couple months, and I think he needs a slight buff. His E nerfs were much needed, as some people in the LCS used to pick Veigar support (in season 3/4) just for the insta-stun box. That Old Box was a little broken. However, now with that E and R nerfs, he seems a little weak. So I figured this could be a proper buff to help him out a little:

W: Dark Matter - AP ratio scaling changed from 100% to 80% W: Dark Matter - Delay time 1/.9/.8/.7/.6 seconds (currently 1.25 seconds at all ranks, I believe) R: Primordial Burst - Enemy AP ratio scaling reduced from 80% to 50% R: Primordial Burst - AP ratio scaling increased from 100% to 120% (A revert to the Old Veigar damages)

The delay reduction on the W helps make Veigar a little more consistent to land his full combo, but its damages were insanely high. With these changes, Veigar's W delay would be on-par with Xerath's W delay at Max rank.

I had considered that the changes on Veigar's Q was a buff. Veigar can remain farther behind towers in order to farm, which keeps him safer, at the expense that his poke is greatly reduced. Now that the Q only strikes the first two units, enemies can simply hide behind enemy lines to avoid the poke. So I thought this buff might also help lil' Veiggy out:

Q: Baleful Strike: ALL enemies in the line are hit. However, only the first two units struck may be farmed to gain the AP bonus.

As of late, Veigar relies on enemy stupidity more than his own ingenious #LCSBIGPLAYS. With these changes, Veigar doesn't have to depend on the enemy rushing Rabadon's in order to nuke them with his ult. These changes are just a suggestion. Every Veigar main let me know what you think of this! Is this too good of a change? Or does he need a little more of a buff?

This would be even worse. Those AP reductions are huge. His problem isn't even necessarily in Dark Matter, either, it's in not having a reliable trading tool in lane. Reducing the fall time per level would help him later, but later he can rely on his team's much more reliable CC to land his combo.

The changes as is would cripple his ability to kill basically anything, and he'd still have his major problems. He's too unreliable for the damage he doesn't do, and he's got no reflexive defenses of any sort (no mobility, shields, or instant CC, no CC at all if he tried to initiate).

Yeah, I don't play him, but when I face him I pretty much know I've won lane before the game starts. He's rather sub-par as far as I can tell. I think the way they modified his stun box to give some warning is perfect, but the rest of his kit needs some work. I'd say a bit less delay on his W would be good, but your suggestions might be too much. In fact I'd say if you take all your buffs as a whole and apply them to him he likely becomes overpowered. I'd say they should start out by shortening the delay on his W and see how that pans out. You just have to remember that when you give a champion multiple buffs at once you can often get a multiplicative effect that makes them more powerful than intended. That's why I advocate one buff at a time, followed by a period of assessment to see if the champion has become balanced. If not, repeat the process. You see what I'm saying?

I feel like these are large nerfs, rather than buffs. W and Q definitely are nerfs R... neutral

veigar does rely on enemy stupidity. but over all he relies on farming and the timeing of his skills i see people that e then w and by time the e stun is over the enemy can run from the w but i w then e w on top of them and then the e rises to stop the person just as they run from the w. veigar relies on the people on his team realiseing that he can make better use of the farm in mid lane than most other champions when team fights start and they seem to be getting earlier and earlier

I feel like Veigar is in an okay place atm. There are different champs that can be reworked (poppy, quinn, etc). Veigar is an op champion as long as you hit your abilities (which is hard). These (tweaks) would make veigar really powerful endgame due to his reliability to land his abilities such as w.
