For real, is it time to consider buffs for Karthus?

The last five out of six most recently released champs have something in common that all hard-counter Karthus.

I think the list of items and champions that counter Karthus are quite big.

And if there is anyone who has played Karthus, then they know that his E and Q are unreliable damage spells. E is only good in teamfights if Karthus positions himself correctly, and Q relies more on enemy dodging skills than your own ability to aim. Yes, his W is nice in helping land his Q, but remember that Karthus has to be at a medium-close range in order to get a string of Q combo off like this. The enemy could turn on him and kill him if they wanted.

His ult is his primary kill-secure and teamfight tool. Any considerations for buffs?
