Riven's rework

I never understood why people hate riven. Her kit is alittle strong, but not insta-win. Why the rework, I don't know. If anything, Yasuo deserves the hate. Each ability is just unfairly strong. Passive gives you bonus damage, and a shield. His Q is spammable every second where riven's is only 3 at a time. His windwall just stops everything now because riot is changing everything into a skillshot instead of lock on (Veigar Zilean Ryze). His e is a 0.1 second escape. Let me say that again. A escape every 0.1 seconds, yet riven's (E) is at least 5 seconds. His ult has the passive of 50% armor pen. Thats a free last whisper and a half, so if you build a last whisper you have 85% armor pen which makes it almost impossible to build defense against him. Yet Riven is the one getting reworked. Someone explain what's happening. I don't understand why Riot is suddenly playing favorites. I'd happily want to discuss this in a mature manner instead of listening to the average Youtube comment of "Get over it you %^&*@" or the like related.

Her kit allows her to play in any matchup and have the possibility of winning. She has 0 true counters.

This mini rework is nerfing her in the areas that were toxic and buffing her in areas that make her a more balanced champion.

From somebody who hates riven this is a good job by riot

the last sentence just show's you're horrendously balanced against Riven. It's very easy to shutdown Riven in lane with ganks and she DEFINITELY DOES have counters. Now, however, she does not.

I love that argument.

X Character is easy to shut down with ganks

Oh, you mean the same thing that shuts down every other champion in the entire game. Ok bud Thank you for that intelligent response.

There is not a single character in the game that counters riven completely and the only one close is garen.

A counter is like pantheon vs GP where GP has no chance of winning outside of other variables such as getting ganks

Her kit allows her to play in any matchup and have the possibility of winning.

So you think she's well-designed? Good to know.

I never once said that. Being uncounterable isn't well-designed.

Every champion should have hard counters

No. You clearly haven't played as Riven, against Kennen, Garen, Cho, Malphite, among others.

She is more dependent on player skill than most champions, but to say that she lacks counters is just flat out wrong

Yasuo's kit is actually quite weak. Riven's passive nets her more damage than Yasuo's passive because she can also crit on top of her bonus, Yasuo's crits are either 10% or 25% reduced (which makes buying AD on him bad, as after a certain point your Q makes you lose damage if you use it).

His W is perfectly fine, Braum has the same ability and he can also move it -- just walk through it or bait it, it's not that hard.

His E is the reason why he's so weak: the ability is simply toxic. Way, way too much random mobility in lane, you dodge things out of dumb luck and dash spamming, and yet in a 1v1 without minions he's as mobile as Renekton. Pathetic. And yet it's so annoying in lane that his entire kit had to be nerfed.

As for his ulti, it's actually quite a shitty ulti. Most of the times it makes you die instantly after using it, it does less damage than one Q crit (I can do the math for you if you want), is too hard to set up succesfully for what it does, and the buff is pretty much useless. You always hit the squishies first else you get oneshot, so the bonus armor pen is useless.

Yeah, once in a while you can catch a tank alone and shred it with R, but that's just stupid. The ability is just all over the place. It blinks me inside the enemy team when I'm a squishy. It does shitty damage even though it's as hard as Ekko's R to land, if not more, and the buff is wasted if you focus the squishes which you should.

#Riven's changes are meaningful, but Yasuo needs a rework.

This is honestly the best answer so far. Thanks for your insight.

so with the whole weaving autos with abilities.. item 3078 new riven item??? xD

I really don't know why it wasn't already aside from the AP. Rage is a good passive for her to cling even more shudders in terror. Crit, while low is still a potential for even deadlier AAs and the zeal does add MS.

Im more or less thinking about the passive of spellblade..

After using an ability the next basic attack deals 200% base attack damage on hit..

So its like critting without critting..

You just defended a champion by saying they're ok because you think another is more broken Do you even hear yourself

Riven is the most obnoxious opponent to play against. She has zero ability costs and has a very disruptive kit. Meaning her opponent has to change their mind-set because they can't rely on their opponent going OOM. She has one of the highest kill potential and lane pressure at lvl 1 to 3.

Same can be said for Yasuo.

She disengages really well and it's quite frustrating to have that capability in such a low cooldown. Unlike Yasuo who needs enemy targets to run away with.

Riven [Looks like the experimental EDGE passive and R changes have been reverted]

I personally like the rework tbh and i have mastered riven already. But I like the rework cause it actually makes her more viable while also increasing her skill floor. I'm actually all cool if a good riven outplays me, but if you just qqq and auto 3 times + windslash and I die cause of that then im sorry that's just not right in any way...

At least now we won't have rivens tp bot after a fight has happened there and immediately windslash the 30% hp adc and support for a double .
