Why is Syndra popular all of a sudden

Basically, it is because her main counters are in a not so good spot right now.

Zed, Fizz, basically any assassin is not viable right now in the highest level of plays. And since people are LCS sheeps, they play whats picked there. Yes, the MYMU buffed her Ult, W and E, but basically, she was the same since 3 seasons. But now, in the immobile i-buy-rylais-and-kill-everything-mage era, she shines, because her contester are nerfed.

She has insane waveclear, maybe topped by Aurelion Sol, but he gets shit on by her in actual fights, so does Cassiopeia, another S-Tier pick at the moment. Basically, it is due to the lack of mobilitycreeps in the middlelane that make her rise in popularity, the fact that she now can easier land her skillshots and has an on click nuke that wrecks any ADC.

Not saying she is op, it's just her laning is way safer now, since she cannot be punished that easy.

I guess people learned what that R button does ...

Coming from a syndra main on my main account, they didnt nerf her (idk if this is tru to the new patches cos im in china and league is unavailable to me) they gave her passive new changes after the mage update. Most changed was her W, which at max rank could grab up to 3 spheres. As long as you shoot it in the general direction of the enemy you will hit your stun, and then hit your ult, and then enemy dies. Another reason is because her counters arent really strong right now like talon/zed. Along with rylais and some LCS picks she just showed her true potentional.

I almost always built rylais on her before the boards started up a shitstorn about how "OP SYNDRA IS OP" and i was like..... dafaq dudes

She's been secretly powerful, but nobody noticed until Worlds.

because she's being picked a lot at worlds, as for our LIVE patches yes she's been tuned down, its the band waggon syndrome.

People heavily underestimated the benefits of the changes made to her during her Mage Update and she got buffed. Now she is wrecking face in the hands of experienced players.
