Singed: second impressions [4.20]

Ok, when I heard singed was getting a rework of sorts I was very excited. He is one of the most unique and fun to play champs of old on my roster. Sadly myself and many other players while happy to see he cleaned up his look, felt cheated about his quality of life changes. You can see that discussion under my 1st impressions thread I started about month ago.

Needless to say, being one of my fave I have given some time and effort into making something...anything...reliably work. I'm sorry to say that I just don't get it. How the hell are you suppose to play with him now? I am certain I haven't explored all the possibilities, but I'm stumped. I use to have over a 60% win rate back in the day in ranked with him...now I'm lucky if I don't throw the game for my team by 6 min. There obviously needs to be a change in my play style in order to adapt, but maybe I just need more eyes to see it.

I really want to give him due diligence and keep him relevant. There are plenty of things we could all bitch about like his wonky fling that doesn't seem to work half the time, or his garbage root they added as a buff which actually is a nerf if you consider how the logistics of it compared to how his abilities use to work, but that's not the point of this thread. The point is...what can he do, if anything, to keep a spot in my top lane lineup?

I haven't watched how you play. But taking a quick look at your build, you're really missing out on some of the innovation that Druiddroid and Invertedcomposer put into Singed in the last year.

Mana Crystal>2 Pots to start along with ghost, and teleport (ignite is fine too)

Once you rush tear, you start building towards Ryali's, because poisoncloud CC is OP. If you're way ahead in lane, and in game, push the advantage into getting Liandries next. If you're behind, get defense

You're looking for a final build of Tear>Ryali's>Liandries>Abyssal Scepter, a good MR item, a good Armor item (typically thornmail here), and whatever boots counter your lane. Once all that's said and done, sell the tear for a Rabadon's hat.

Good tankyness, great damage, and the poisoncloud CC can help your team immensely. I can't count the number of times I saved my entire team from dying because I ran a sort of zig-zag path behind them causing the enemy team to be slowed, and eventually give up the mid chase. You also have the tankyness to dive/initiate, and pick the support, the ADC or someone else without a ton of CC. That's how Singed keeps his 60% win rate.

Also: To comment on Singed's QOL changes, I love the fact that E was fixed... (mostly) and feel like he's in a pretty good place, but I wish his E had an opportunity to cast his W mid-flip to give a sort of high-skill cap root guarantee.

After about 20 games with singed, the only people I've been able to root are bots. It feels almost impossible to root a thinking human.

DruidDroid made me want to play singed. I've used a lot of his older builds since the patch with mixed results. My last 3 games were wildly experimental...and the final game was a troll game where it went 60+ min because the other team refused to close and mine reused to surrender. I changed out my items like 4 times. All of them. Anyways. I'll give some of your thoughts a try again. I don't think his flip is fixed at all. I have tried countless times to use it only to have me walk up and do nothing. The root is indeed garbage, and the increased air time as opposed t the stun is a nerf to everyone on your team who use to be able to pounce on your target...unless your Yasou who now can ulti them mid air.

I'll keep trying. Nothing else to do until I get so discouraged I give up.
