Need Help on Hecarim Matchups

Hi, I just started Hecarim, and I need to learn about lane matchups. Can anyone either reply in detail about the matchups or provide a guide that details on his matchups? That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hecarim works well against:

  1. Jayce - Just dodge his shockballs during the lane phase and avoid being poked too much. You can generally all-in and hit Jayce with Devastating Charge before he can hammer you away with Thundering Blow. He can't escape from you later in the game even if he hammer you away because you are extremely fast.

  2. Irelia - You are stronger and tankier early game when compared to her. Also, you have the advantage of being able to use Ignite. She can also use Ignite but she have to sacrifice Teleport for that, and it is rare that she will do that. You can harass her pretty well during the lane phase. As long as she isn't ahead, though.

  3. Jax - You are very tanky when compared to him, his early game is very weak. It is even better than irelia because Jax does not have natural sustain, and is way squishier. Don't go on extended trades against him, though.

  4. Gangplank - Gangplank has a rather weak early game and he is squishy. Don't get hit by his barrels and you will win this. You can harass him pretty well and you have the Ignite advantage.

  5. Yasuo - Break his shield with Spirit of Dread, and he has no way to avoid your damage.

Skill based matchups:

  1. Vladimir - You win before level 11 because Vladimir is so weak early, and you are very dangerous to him due to you having Ignite. However, as the game progresses, it gets more and more difficult to win against Vlad, because he will get tankier, more powerful, and have much more sustain than you have. Once he has item 3152 item 3116 he can beat Hecarim very easily

  2. Riven - It is easy to win against Rivens who don't know how to animation cancel - but those which do are much harder to deal with. Instead of rushing Trinity Force, I recommend to rush Sunfire Cape against her. This is because this is a tanky armor item that will still offer some damage to be able to deal with her.

Bad matchups:

  1. Fizz - Unlike Jax and Irelia, he can also use Ignite without forgoing Teleport, just like you. Don't trade auto-attacks with him as you will lose due to his Seastone Trident. Unfortunately for Hecarim, he can win trades with his ult and dodge Onslaught of Shadows with Playful/Trickster. He is just a better duelist overall. This only applies to AD Fizz, though. I don't know if going AP is good against Hecarim, it probably is not because Hecarim can just stack magic resistance and AP Fizz is squishy.

  2. Shen - Shen is very tanky, outsustains Hecarim, and can counter Devastating Charge with his Shadow Dash. Once Shen has Sunfire Cape, he will always win trades. I recommend to focus on farming against Shen, and try to save your Onslaught of Shadows to interrupt his Stand United.

  3. Kennen - You can't catch him. He is very mobile and everytime you try to harass him with Devastating Charge, he can counter that with Lighting Rush. He will rush Seeker's Armguard and become virtually immune to your damage. He will also harass you with auto-attacks and his Electrical Surge.

  4. Khazix - You might be surprised but Kha works well against Hecarim. Early game, not that much. But Kha'Zix will get stronger and can sustain himself during the early game with his Void Spike. Then, once he has a Black Cleaver, he will win trades against Hecarim due to isolation. Late game, Kha'Zix will become tanky enough to survive Hecarim's damage, while dealing much more damage back.
