How to handle idiotic Baron calls?

I'm in Gold and have finally begun climbing up towards plat. One thing I've become increasingly frustrated about are in so many games I have teammates making these obvious bad calls to do Baron.

Every time we win a teamfight, everyone would rather do Baron than push out objectives. As soon as 20 minutes rolls around, people want to do baron. It's driving me fucking insane. Why the hell do so many people believe Baron is the be all end all? What sort of cognitive dissonance has to be happening with so many players that they think that you have to do baron when you get any sort of advantage?

It feels like fewer and fewer people actually understand the necessity to prioritize lane objectives and map control over baron.

You don't have to participate in the taking of the Baron. You can always clear some of the opposing team's Jungle or push out the bot lane instead.

If the enemy team comes and wipes your team at baron, well at least you got bot lane pushing and you are still alive to defend. If the enemy team comes after you, then your team successfully gets the baron...

The same cognitive dissonance that causes people to try to end a game 20 minutes in as soon as they get one inhib down and your entire team is at 20% hp and the enemy team is respawning in 5 seconds...
