Illaoi in lower ranked play.

Hi! As of now, I started playing illaoi 4 days ago, and concurrently have a ~80% winrate on her. 4/5 games are wins-aka fucking awesome. I'm gradually escaping the depths of bronze hell, and as I play illaoi most (if not all) of my opposing laners struggle against her. I don't think she is busted in higher elo, but she is a huge lane bully and makes it really easy to cs, I typically have 2x the cs of my teammates and 4x my opposing laner.

However, because she is pretty good and by the off chance I hit her in lane myself, what are some counters you guys use against her?

I've found that Nasus works well. You won't have any lane pressure and you'll be behind your tower the entire time, but you can freefarm a ton of stacks off of the tentacles. I don't think I've ever laned against an Illaoi and had less than 400 or so stacks at 20 minutes. You can easily 1v1 her as long as you move out the ultimate.

I think a lot of picks do fine against her, what really swings the lane is your ability to dodge her E and tentacles. Fiora fits into this well.

Or a ranged poke so she can never do anything, like teemo or heim.

Back when she was new, Volibear used to be really good against her. Given how items have changed that may no longer apply, but back then Volibear with sunfire cape utterly destroys Illaoi in a slugfest through his various passives.

Gnar utterly demolishes Illaoi.

Jax is alright, but the lane pretty much comes down to who wins the earlier trades and zones the other laner.

Irelia is a skill matchup.

Fiora is good against her. Snowball lane for both sides.

Camille is a skill matchup.

Aatrox can do ok, but he takes a lot of practice.

Tryndamere is a skill matchup with a tough early game.

Taric can brute-force her, but he has massive mana trouble early and takes practice.

Urgot is pretty good against her. The matchup is largely influenced by jungler presence, however.

Garen is really good against Illaoi.

Darius is a skill matchup for Illaoi, which should be easier now that he's been buffed

Renekton and Riven both do really well against her provided they're good at using their spells to dodge through her.

Vladimir pretty much can't die.

Teemo can bully her out of lane if played well.

Pantheon is a skill matchup.

Gangplank can do really well against her, but not explicitly win lane unless she messes up.

Graves used to be pretty good against her.

Olaf is alright against her.

Quinn used to be the designated counterpick to illaoi, but after Illaoi's ult was buffed it's more of a skill matchup. Quinn is still a better bully.

Vayne is a skill matchup, but favouring Vayne.

Rumble is supposedly pretty good against Illaoi.

Trundle is pretty good against everything.

Yasuo is like a cross between Tryndamere and Riven, aka really good against Illaoi provided you play well

Heimerdinger is really good against all melee champions.

Draven destroys Illaoi in lane.

Illaoi is reliant on hitting her E. Basically, the less skilled your opponents are, the more E's you will hit, and the more you will crush your opponent into the ground. That's why she feels so much stronger in lower elo. The more skillshots a champion has, the more power can be allocated to that skill. If you hit those skills, they will give more value than a point and click ability, or the point and click ability will take power away from other areas of their kit. Technically, the best champion in low elo should be Ezreal (he is not).
