Hey folks,

I was curious how people think Rakan is balance wise. When I first started playing him I was winning very easily on him. Now that he has been out for a bit my win rate is slowly going down. So people must be figuring out who counters him or how to play vs him.

Even when he first came out I thought his laning (pre 6) is pretty weak. I think he is the weakest support in the early game. I also find him the hardest for me to judge in terms of my effectiveness. Since his bread and butter is shields, knockup, and charm, you don't get much statistical feedback post game. You can only gauge yourself based on what you can physically see in fights.

So what do you think? Is he weak, fine, or too strong? And what are your detailed thoughts on the character gameplay wise.

Annoying as fk. Wouldn't go as far as saying he is op though.

I can't figure him out either... With other support champs I can clearly see what I'm doing and not doing.. but with Rakan Idk. In lane I feel I'm not doing anything cuz my W does no dmg, Q also.. and in teamfights I'm not sure we won cuz of me or we woulda win if I played aatrox support.

His level 3 ( and level 6 ) all in with an early game ADC can be devastating. His usefulness depends solely on the damage his adc can dish out, as he lacks damage himself.

If you were to split supports into two catergories, both of which are capable of auto attacking safely: melee + tanky, and adequately ranged + squishy.... Rakan fits into neither. So I don't find myself using autos with him.

He's fun, he's not THAT weak, but his interactivity is kind of low in lane and his trades are REALLY short.

I feel rakan is very underwhelming just because most of his kit comes from other champs. Malphite passive on his passive and ult on rakan's w with a delay, Taric heal that is worst, lee sin's w with two charges. I feel like the reason you play him would be his ult. That how I feel anyway.

After playing some more games I think Lucian counters him just so hard. Not only is Lucian so strong right now. But he can practically blow Rakan up at lvl 2 with just starter items because Rakan is so squishy early game. I can't seem to win a lane or game vs. Lucian as him.

I feel like he is a little overnerfed. His lategame carrying potential is still there but his laning phase is basically nonexistent. His Q seemed absolutely gutted. I feel like after the nerfs (some don't know, it originally was supposed to leave a feather for Xayah and go through the minions) that it could use a little bit of a range increase to compensate so that he actually has some way to be useful in lane. His counter engage is incredibly good for teamfights and his mobility is topnotch but he's really squishy early on, his damage is low, his healing costs you hp because you have to go and trade to land it essentially... I feel like with a little love he could be a top notch champion.

Rakan is more ban worthy than Xayah. High amounts of CC combined with high mobility is irritating. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily saying he's broken, I'm just saying he's irritating to fight.

Have only played him in normals, but if my ADC is semi-competent we get easy kills early...I have been starting W first and basically spam it any time it is available and I can hit someone with it. If my ADC is paying attention it is a free kill or a free pressure. Once he hits level 3 and has his Q damage + heal, W knockup, and E escape back to ADC, it just feels like a turkey shoot. I wouldn't say he is OP, but he is in a pretty decent spot. His E with Xayah is annoying though, sooooo quick to come to her aid.

I think that his ultimate should be a taunt and not a charm.

Alistar is a major counter to Rakan/Xayah combo. Basically you just wait for Rakan to use his knock-up and go in on Xayah because she has no gap close/escape moves. I've had major success with Twitch as an ADC.
