New Tank Item Line Idea
I'm taking this very seriously, so please feel free to leave constructive criticism. I'd love to get a Rioter to see this, even if it doesn't pan out into anything.
Tanks definitely need some love right now. Fighters have plenty of attractive options to give them tankiness or damage, but tanks need to dip into some of the defensive mage items (
,
, etc.) in order to keep up. Many, many tanks have great AP ratios, but they can't take advantage of them because they're forced to get so many defensive items just to keep up with fighters, who can also deal damage while being nearly as tanky. I know that fighters are the topic of a long-running rework discussion, but I think adding a single new item line would help make fighters not so often strictly better than most tanks. Some good examples of tanky AP items are
and
.
would also be if it didn't take a
and grant 120 AP on a defensive item for some reason. There need to more items like this, OR make being a pure tank less of a terrible option.
"Tank Item":
+
+ X gold = 300 HP, 300 MP, 30 armor, 30 MR, 10% CDR, and Specter's regen passive. It gives a lot, but not very much of any one stat. Not to mention, zero damage. This would make going pure tank more attractive, and save AP items strictly for offense. I'm dead set on this recipe, but what the finalized item grants you is open to change.
Tank Item +
+ Y gold = 500 HP, 350 MP, 40 armor, 40 MR, 20% CDR, +100% base health regen. I would love to see Tenacity on this item, but I don't wanna overload it. I'm not nearly as in love with this item idea, but
Kindlegem seemed like an appropriate item to add without making this item a bundle of stats. I'd also like to point out that this gives you less armor and MR than any dedicated defense item (even
Iceborn gives you more armor than this, and that's an offensive option for a tank).
Of course, all of the numbers are subject to change. I know that Runic Bulwark was removed because it gave all three defensive stats, but it also had an aura. This doesn't.
Maybe with these, you won't need
to get decent HP and MP in a single item, and you can actually get some tank stats in the beginning of the game (since if you're getting RoA, it has to be fairly early to be effective). The AP is nice awesome and all, but I feel compelled to get this on
Maokai, regardless of position. Nothing else gives even close to this amount of HP and MP in a single item. I haven't tried jungling in 5s (mainly play mid and support on that map), but I can imagine that this would slow his early ganking potential down a lot.
is a nice addition, but its active kinda sets it in an offensive spot, and isn't very useful if you're behind.
