Is the AFK penalty system working correctly?

I remember few years back when going afk = temporarily getting banned. It made me afraid of going afk and kinda forced me to play the game until the end. Now if I have to leave the game (Mostly due to something out of my control like sudden irl events and so on), I literally never get punished. I know there is the 20min que time, but I haven't had it in forever, even if I have left multiple times! It frustrates me because it allows players to just give up/RQ on the game without getting any punishments for it.

Is the system working correctly? It's hard to imagine that the detect-and-punish system would go worse over time. Are they trying to make it more flexible thus resulting in a too forgiving system? I'd really like to see the same kind of hard iron fist of love towards afkers, just like back in the old days.

And its a good thing because we ( Tilted people ) dont want to stay 40 min with apes and insult them.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. One of my accounts has four leaves in the last twenty games and hasn't gotten punished yet.

Losing the game is enough of a punishment tbh. With the old system, if there was a power outage or something like that, you'd get frustrated because you were banned and lost the game for no reason at all.

It actually works...

... if it's Riot's fault that you had to go AFK, because game froze or something like that. So all in all people are still getting punished. :D

do you know why you have to behave in soloq right now and not be a toxic shitter? because if you are a toxic shitter anyone can just afk, and then you just wasted your time.
