To those who don't use Quick Cast:

My first three years of playing League I never used quick cast. I didn't consider it to be particularly important at the time, and I was stuck in silver for three seasons in a row. During this time I was also typically placed in bronze, and spent more time getting out of it than I'd like to admit. Then during preseason 7 I decided to start practicing with it so I could use it in the upcoming ranked season. I had no idea how positive a difference it would make. I made it to silver virtually immediately, and fared in silver with by far my highest ranked win rate yet (consistently in the 57-62% range) and made it to gold for the first time, with much less effort than expected and plenty of time to spare. With this experience I can confidently recommend switching to quick cast for anyone who isn't using it and would like to improve their performance. Please give it the consideration due (and please don't quick cast in ranked for at least your first 20 games with it).

Things you DON'T want to quick cast:

Ultimates, especially Rumble's. Accidentally wasting that Ashe ult because you were hovering the cursor ready to fire it, then shoot it out before aiming it can lead to bad situations. Rumble's ult just acts funny apparently.
