What if whenever you missed to last hit an enemy minion and your minions killed it instead, they earn some gold. And when enough gold is earned by your minions from killing enemy champions or towers or other minions, they get upgraded. Wouldn't that be fun? :D

Even if they don't do this on the actual rift, it would still make a neat alt game mode
I dont think it would THAT fun. A tower defense game mode where each player has control over towers and tower upgrades (and the minions which go to their lane) would be fun though.
Like... choose to make your towers the slowing beams, choose to make your towers tankier but do less damage, choose to make your towers do true, physical, or magic damage, choose to make your towers do AoE damage, etc...
