With all the talk of making different playstyles with runes they are removing some

With the new patch they are moving the rune second wind to the same row as mirror shell and iron skin. Myself and a few other midlaners that I talk to have used a rune page where you take the classic sorcery primary, but you take resolve secondary with mirror shell/iron skin (depending on damage type of enemy midlaner) along with second wind. This created a playstyle where you could do small trades with the enemy laner often, but you would lose in all out power to those who take sorcery precision and domination secondary. After this change the resolve secondary playstyle is gone. There aren't any viable two rune combinations unless your champion synergizes with it really well. The same thing goes for domination, unless your champion has a dash for direct impact or really like the roaming from relentless hunter, there's no two runes that can create a unique playstyle as a secondary. With the huge nerfs to stopwatch, inspiration secondary isn't going to be anywhere near as good as a pick because, I dont know about you, but I find myself using stopwatch anywhere between 6 min to 10 min right when the enemy gets ult. I believe that most mages are going to go precision secondary with triumph and coup de grace which doesn't create any unique playstyle, you just play the same that you always have but do a bit more damage and gain health after kills. Maybe I'm missing something, but I really don't want to be locked into one tree for secondary runes.

Old rune system offered more freedom for players, we could do whatever we wanted, i mean there was rune for reducing time spent dead. With the introduction of runes reforged i was hyped because we had something that will change the way we play the game, the only thing that changed is that we got ad,as,ap,hp runes combined with old mastery system. I was so disappointed. With these new runes some champions are forced to take certain rune combinations to get the most out of them.

I am still hopeful that they might add more runes to choose from, Ofc adding more runes will make it that much more difficult to balance the game.

At least since season 7 this game is kinda going in a better direction, we will see what happens.
