Yasuo Ult Mechanics

Sometimes when I ult with Yasuo instead of placing me behind the target it places me to the side or from a distance. Being placed a distance when ulting can be especially useful when turret diving as it keeps me out of the turret range while I hold them airborne. Is there a way to do this on purpose or is it just a chance?

I think it just has to do with what side of the opponent you're ulting.

UnknownToPublic: Not even remotely related to the query! Good job good fellow.

Keloro: Yasuo's ult prioritizes leaving him outside of turret range and placing him to the rear of the enemy that the ultimate targets (this is usually a good position as if you want to get out you immediately E your target, but if you want to chase you just wait until they move away from you before Eing to them).

Yasuo's ult will always attempt to place you outside tower range if possible, if not then it puts you behind them as it normally would
