As a top lane Shen main, should I be banning mid laners rather than my own top lane enemies?

I don't mean to say I'm a shen god or anything, but I have this feeling that I can at least always go even, OR do my best to lose smartly and back off (building tankier and not dying, while waiting for your team to ramp up). The scariest match-ups for me are personally a good Nasus, or a good Gangplank, both very farmy champions.

But I'm super scared of midlane this season. Damage feels like ripping a wet toilet paper with a nuke. I already know Zoe is perma banned by me (for the sake of my teammates who are not used to her yet) as well as Vayne (Ik, bot lane but still damage). I didn't think katarina was that dangerous until my placements today lol. 3/1 shen + 7/1 shyvanna < 15/something kat, and then it just rolls until the end.

So in light of the state of damage this season, I am leaning towards ignoring top lane bans, and going for strictly damage carry bans. Anyone else feel this?

TL;DR Damage too high, so should I ban mid lane carries and ignore top lane bans?

When you reach this level of confidence, compentance and skill on any champion, you should seek for bans outside of your lane, unless the champion in your lane is extremly and utterly broken. Example I can be an AMAZING adc and will beat Vayne in lane, but I am making a huge risk in not banning her. She can still scale late game, she can still make picks on my teamates, Sure I can beat her, but can my teamates beat her?
