top lane tanks

i play a lot of shen but have trouble in solo queue since i usually have to be in bot or mid saving my teams asses so i lose top lane, whos a tank that has a easy lanning phase and is a great engage like shen

Kenchy seems like a decent one even though I've been playing him more mid than top as of late (he's a fun thing to take into the likes of assassins with lee sin jg, as he can just focus the lee and get super easy kills). Depending on runes, maokai could potentially be another easy one as at worst you can just use saplings to clear waves and wait for on-click snare ganks.

Thresh is a horrible tank... he is a utility champ... he has 16 base armor and only gets armor via souls and items/runes/masteries

Personally, if you are already saving your teams arse bot side, I would just cross map at that point. Let them have top, we'll get bot tower first, pick up that first turret gold, and possibly move on to Dragon. And with Shen, you can easily cover both bases. Ult in to save your team, then TP back to top lane.

Your really not going to find another tank quite like shen. Though one of my favorites is Sion. The Reason I like Sion is that he has a lot of AoE, By combining his spells, you can easily push the enemy away, His Q has some reach to it, And the AoE means you can farm and harass at the same time. The only thing with Sion though is that his engage isn't as smooth, and you should make some set up before ulting, but if you do get your ult off on multiple targets, it's becomes quite amazing.
