Champion Mastery For Runes
This is an idea to make Runes a bit more accessible without "just making them cheaper". Note this idea is under the assumption that you would still be able to buy runes with IP as well.
Champions and Runes will be divided into 4 categories Physical, Magical, Defensive, and Utility. Each time you gain Mastery Levels you also gain Points that can be redeemed for corresponding rune type.
Example
Say I play Annie up to Mastery level 3 I'll get 615 MAGICAL points for each mastery level up for a total of 1230. With that 1230 I would be able to buy 3x 410 magic-type runes or 1x 820 and 1x 410 or 6x 205s, etc etc. However I would not be able to buy ANY of the other type of runes because I haven't gain any mastery levels in any other type of champion.
Examples of the corresponding types of champions and runes are as followed:
Physical
Champions Marksmen (Ashe, Jynx) AD Assassins (Zed, Talon) AD Castors (Riven, Jayce)
Runes Attack Damage Attack Speed Armor Penetration
Magical
Champions Mages (Annie, Syndra) AP Assassins (Katarina, Diana) AP bruisers (Rumble, Elise)
Runes Ability Power Cooldown Reduction Magic Penetration
Defensive
Champions Tanks (Nautilus, Maokai) Juggernauts (Garen, Darius) (?)Wardens (Braum, Poppy)
Runes Armor Magic Resist Health
Utility
Champions Enchanters (Soraka, Janna, Lulu) (?)Wardens (Braum, Poppy)
Runes Basically everything that doesn't fit in the other 3 categories
Optional This also have the optional dual category champs where you champs can get 2 types of points but at half the rate each. Examples Nunu = Defensive/Utility Illoai = Physical/Defensive Corki = Physical/Magical
Suggested Mastery to Rune Ratio
My suggestion would be getting a champion mastery from level 1 to 5 should be AT LEAST equal 3x 820 runes. (2460 IPs worth of runes) This is because if you played the same champion straight to get to mastery level 5 you would get ABOUT the same amount of IP with no boost.
