Hey Guys! Please help me out a bit here. I am very confused about Darius and Garen.

I am a Diamond 5 player with normal MMR hovering around mid plat. In my past 15 games or so there has been a Darius or Garen almost every game. And really to be honest, I am extremely confused on how to play against these two champions, so I will need your help.

Every single game I've played, these two champions just stomp over the other team completely (either on my team or on enemy team). Either my own teammates or the enemy team will always say something on the lines of "These champions are broken, GJ RIOT."

I am also extremely surprised that no one else on Boards is having these troubles as I am. I am shocked that there are people who actually say they're underpowered after the rework.

Darius:

In lane I have tried out various champions and my conclusion is that there is not a single melee champion played top lane that can even stay even to Darius in lane. Trading is impossible because he HEALS off his Q and as soon as he gets in 3 or 4 auto attacks you are dead due to the passive. The only champions top that can actually lane against him are Lulu, Vayne, and Cait. I did observe that during mid-late game, he DOES indeed get kited easily, so I guess the balance is there. My question is, who have YOU guys played top lane that can beat him in lane? I've had gold/silver players playing Darius and stomping me top because I don't know how to counterplay against him.

Garen:

Contrary to Darius, he is actually manageable in lane. As long as I don't get too close to him, I can at least farm safely or under the turret. The problem comes mid-late game, where he is actually impossible to kill by any means. As soon as he is around 25% hp, he will Q or E away with such speed and then heal back up with warmogs/passive. Riot and the general public said that you can kite Garen to play against him, but his Q gives him such a speed buff that it is simply impossible to run away. I had a Diamond 3 Cait main on my team being unable to kite away from a gold Garen player. What is the best way to deal with Garen in the mid-late game? Would building Frozen Mallet on ADC help? Please give me your suggestions!

The problem isn't Garen, it's Dead Man's Plate, which is a fantastic item that solves a bruiser getting kited way better than BoRK or Randuin's ever did.

Problem is Riot didn't realize how effective it was and balanced their juggernauts around the unreliable engage they were used to.

Facing against a Darius, play more META Top Lane ranged champions. Example like Gnar, Teemo, Jayce, Quinn, etc. but the best counter against him is Cho'Gath. Think about it... Cho'Gath has an AoE silence and a knock up to prevent Darius from all-ining on you.

Meanwhile with Garen, You're gonna need crowd control or someone that has poison cough Teemo cough

But for real, Teemo is the best counter I can think of to counter both of these insane Juggernauts. Gnar is an ok counter, just be careful when you turn into Mega Gnar as they can really all-in you since you have no range.

Revert Darius hemorrhage back to magic damage you may be wondering why because right now it is physical damage which scales with black cleaver which is insane one q can shred multiple targets armour and I find that to be a reasonable nerf.
