Instead of Nerfing Champions So They Don't Destroy Top Lane...

How about, top lane has some kind of passive effect over it, let's call it "Mana Void", that reduces mana regen by X% while in lane.

Champions designed for top lane who are unduly affected by this can have their mana costs adjusted so that they can survive, and (mostly) ranged harassers who have pushed out the traditional top laners will be forced to either build full mana or stay away from top.

Thoughts?

This seems like a terrible idea and a "forced" solution.

No.

No.

It is forced, because you need to meet force with force in order to balance it.

Well the game needs more diversity in general but this idea is just asking for a No.

What we need is ranged vs melee balance, not this.

No, no, a million times no.

Yeah, let's give ANOTHER nut-punch to mana using champs. If we really try we can force all the champs that aren't resourceless from viability entirely.

The ones who are meant to be in top lane would be compensated for it.

On the grounds that every single energy/manaless/ cd based champ gets a limited resource... ONLY then... "Maybe"

Just make Lulu do 50% damage to minions.

If that happens then I am taking nasus mid lane with the reduced mana costs, Also in AU isn't the meta flipped where our top lane goes to their bot lane?

I wouldn't know. This could cause an issue with this but I don't see why they simply wouldn't switch where they went if this were enacted.

Similar things could be done in other parts of the map but top-lane is the most volatile.
