Is Lux's ultimate used to wave clear?

There is a video on LoLKing about how Lux got one of the highest win rates in this current patch and I read that one of her pros is that she can wave-clear very well. I have mixed feelings about that but I'll explain later why. In the video it was mentioned that her ultimate is used to waveclear. I know that with a bit of CDR she gets around 40 seconds cd on that thing and that it deals a lot of damage but is it really worth it? In case you want to farm just use E, Q and auto attacks, it's not as strong when you try to shove the lane and get an objective because it actually lacks damage if you are not ahead and don't have Luden's Echo, and this only clears the caster minions in one shot. To be honest this is why I do not think her wave clear is good when she must do it fast, it requires 2 E's to clear and if you have another laner (especially ADC's) with you they will generally get all the farm. Not just that but if you use your ultimate to wave clear the enemies might engage or your allies might engage not knowing they shouldn't.

In conclusion, was I clearing waves wrong all this time? Is her ultimate expendable just to wave clear?

If necessary, you can. It will typically kill the minions alone without requiring you autoattack any of them, so it can be quite useful for stalling sieges alone if there are multiple people in her lane.

It's skeptical. Unlike Ezreal you can't waveclear from global range, but her ult is on about the same CD as his. So it's entirely up to you.

I know a lot of people do use her ult to waveclear, but if she does that, her kill potential takes a gigantic hit. That's why I really try to avoid using it that way 99% of the time. That said, it IS a good way to farm when you're against assassins or when it's otherwise unsafe to stay in lane.

It's the same as Ezreal kinda, you can use it to wave clear if you can play around the cooldown.

I always just blast it at the incoming wave when I want to back. By the time I'm back in lane, it's up and the wave is now pushing into my turret.

its better to clear the lane your NOT in with it the walk back to your lane and finish farming

I wouldn't use it to wave clear just because her ultimate doesn't go across map. Don't get me wrong her ultimate has a big radius, but unlike ezreal it doesn't have the width or full map range potential. Even at 30 sec CDR it's best to keep it to secure kills imo.

It depends. If enemy team is pushing mid, using her ultimate to clear the wave buys her time for allies to respond.

If necessary on a big enough wave, and when you have capped CDR so that you don't regret your decision.
