Makes me laugh everyone doesn't want to get rid of Team Builder.

Everyone is hating on the new que and doesn't want team builder to go away.

I remember not too long ago where you NEVER got to pick your role, and thus Team Builder came out and so many people THEN just like NOW with the new que were hating on it so much before it had a chance to get going.

Give the new que a chance guys i know it has bugs so far but it came out yesterday. You guys are gamers you should be used to this stuff by now.

Also everyone saying keep team builder you were probably the same people who hated on it when it came out. LOL jk, but seriously though.

EDIT: After reading posts of what others have said and some very valid points.... I AGREE, keep both the damn que's!!! Also i read from a riot employee post somewhere that they were going to bring something back similar to TeamBuilder, I have NO idea when or if it's going to be the same or have some differences.

I wasn't around when TB was first launched. I was, however, around before it was launched. The community was so, so awful prior to TB that I simply quit playing altogether. I hated myself because LoL had made me toxic. I hated LoL because most players I interacted with in game treated each other terribly whether it was a ranked or unranked game. And I just couldn't stand it anymore.

When I decided to risk returning to the game, EVERYTHING had changed. I had to get used to new items, old items being gone, upgraded smite, new turrets, new jungle, new gates leading in and out of base, new champions, changes to old champions, and more. It was so much to take in that I lost my first few matches as I tried to reorient myself to the new league, but I stayed.

I stayed because the biggest surprise for me was how forgiving and nice my allies were toward me. I don't know if Team Builder had anything at all to do with that, but as someone who played through seasons 2 and 3 and completely missed out on season 4, I NEVER complained about TB. I enjoyed it because it epitomized the things Draft and Blinds lacked. Cooperation and understanding. Players agreed on what they wanted and it made the game infinitely more enjoyable.

This new champ select is just Riot forcing its hand on how they expect players to play the game. Riot may own League, but they don't own me. I am someone who decides how their time and resources are spent and League is beginning to look less valuable to me by the minute; in fact, as I've typed this, I've been downloading DOTA 2 as I've decided to try out alternative means of entertaining myself

Even when Team Builder was released riot said that it was going to be just the start of what they planned to do with queue's. So no one should be complaining IMO

Ravenhale1/15/2016, 4:02:00 PM7 votes

Team Builder was a role based blind pick. New mode is a role based draft pick. IMO, this fixes the Free-For-All (Pick Order/Call Order) Draft Mode. It doesn't fix Team Builder because there wasn't a whole lot wrong with Team Builder.

My only real complaint about Team Builder was the inability to change your champion to fit your team's needs. (minor issue)

My only real complaint about the new Draft Queue is the ridiculous amount of dodging, which causes queue times to occasionally exceed game length. (major issue since I don't log in to LoL to sit in queue for 30% of my gaming time)

Now, I'm fairly certain that there was a statement about applying the same process to Blind. As it stands, my problem with Blind is getting stuck in a role I know I will be dead weight (aka ADC). Sure, I'll do it, (because I don't dodge and have pretty skins for my 20% win rate ADCs), but I was in a blind queue that the enemy team dodged and I would presume it was because of this. Blind is very subject to Call Order. If you don't get what you want, dodging is reasonable.

So I'm hoping they get on with the update for Blind. As is, I'll probably spend my time in ARAM.

"The world is often unkind to the new" - Ratatouille.

While I understand the point of some people wanted to pick one champion to play for without worrying about being snatched away, there are a few good reasons that I interpret of why teambuilder is disabled at the moment:

  • They need more people to test out and giving feedbacks.
  • In a way, this indirectly helps players to be less selfish and just wanted one role and one champion only for themselves.
  • In a way, this indirectly helps players to expand their comfort zone and try out other potential role instead of just lock in one champion all the time (very beneficial in ranked).

It's actually pretty neat, the only down side is it's probably longer to wait to get into the game than current TB, but thats' probably something we should give feedbacks to Riot. Other than that I think it's pretty neat. Give it a chance and try it out.

So far the new queue has not fixed too much. It's a nice addition but the fact that it REPLACED team builder is my main issue with it. I feel people would like it more if Team Builder AND this new queue were both here.

The main Issue I see so far is that even though people are assigned a role they STILL persist on getting another role. We had a Vi who said "I'm jungle" when she was clearly top. She auto locked Vi with this crap and when she was in game she half assed the entire time, resulting in feeding the enemy team.

In team builder there was no role bickering because you only chose one role and you got it however long the queue might have taken. This new queue did NOT fix or improve on this aspect even remotely.

THAT is my only real issue with the new queue It was "fixing" something that wasn't even broken instead of just adding more options for us.

I'm not saying get rid of the new queue. I just want to have the option of Team Builder back. Normal Blindpick is Toxic beyond all reason.

Team builder was the only mode i played....guess its arams and bot games from now on.

arcinex1/15/2016, 8:06:41 PM4 votes

Yeah I don't remember anybody the community collectively hating Team Buider so much that it was on the front page of the forums ever. Are you delusional or just like making stuff up to defend a highly protested change

The Loveless1/15/2016, 4:21:25 PM3 votes

I only used team builder to test it on PBE. It's not that fun waiting so long for people to stop dodging. I won't miss it.

The thing that made TB great was that you could experiment without abuse.

For example, I like Vel'koz support. I think it's fun and a nice change of pace, as if we're struggling in the game, or my adc is bad I can still be relevant to the team.

Teambuilder was nice because when I want to learn a champion for the first time, I'm always going to be on a team that accepts that. I'm always going to find players who are okay with vel'koz support, or nunu mid, or whatever random thing you want to try. Your teammates aren't going to flame you or your pick, because if they don't want to interact with it, they can just leave the game, or kick you from their party before the match begins. Likewise, your skill with the champion was taken into consideration as well, so my skill with a champion would be judged for matchmaking, rather than my overall skill level, which is really great when you're first learning a champion.

The new queue is great for finding roles you want, but terrible for this experimentation and learning experience. People get mad at non-meta picks, and while I might be really skilled with certain champions, I might be terrible with others, my learning experience with those new champions is even harder than it was before.

So while I don't hate the new queue, I feel that removing TB was a bad idea, because the two queues filled different roles. One is for getting the role you want, while the other is for creativity trying new things without inconveniencing your teammates.

Sneakyy XD1/15/2016, 7:17:28 PM3 votes

The complaints about teambuilder were about teambuilder not being perfect, not about it coming into existence. The new draft mode existing isn't a problem. The fact that it isn't perfect isn't a problem. What is a problem is they removed an optional feature because of it.

PapaGreg211/15/2016, 8:03:12 PM3 votes

People always liked the idea of team builder, it was just that it took forever to find a support.

FrostbittnSeeker1/16/2016, 7:03:52 PM2 votes

I've playing both Blind Pick and Team Builder, and though I was playing Draft a whole lot more before this dynamic queue came out, I can say that I hated TB far much more than Draft. I almost never encountered the autolockers that the TB defenders so aggressively bring to light, and when I did, you worked around them. You learned. You got better. Sure, you might have lost, but it was an experience. I remember getting forced into jungle in draft once and actually doing relatively well. I felt great and would never have had that experience if someone hadn't autolocked my favored role, or the other roles hadn't been called. I can also change my pick in Blind if I have to, which I can't do in TB if the team comp isn't that great.

The people complaining about the loss of TB seem to only want to play one champion in one role all the time. I've seen more toxic people in TB in my experience playing it than people seem to mention when defending it. Riot is bringing this new queue to blind pick, which is GREAT in my opinion. So what if you have to know two roles? You get better at the game that way. You practice skills you would have never had to use otherwise. As a support main, I'm not forced to get better at things I would never use simply because I have to choose another role. CSing is a major one that I have to practice.

Yeah, it can be hard sometimes, but just because you're lazy and don't want to learn more stuff doesn't mean this new queue is bad. It means you are not open to change.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Rustling Bush1/15/2016, 11:53:57 PM2 votes

i want tb back... not so much because i can play what ever i want but because i can choose who i want to play with, god i hate yi/rengars players (because they always do so abysmal in my experince) so much that just outright avoided, can't do that shit with the new normal drafts.

oh you got a brand jungle trying to practice on your team, tough shit, deal with it or have a 5 minute time out.

well i guess i don't have to worry to much about the melting pot of ranks that the old tb had, but still man...

As someone who has played both blind pick and team build i loved team builder. i pretty much played only blind till i got to around level 25. pretty much all my time playing blind was with toxic people and for the most part the toxic players would make me feel terrible (as someone who suffers depression this really made my time playing any game in blind pick miserable) once i found out about team builder i really started to have fun. i got to play pretty much the very few characters i am decent/good with which is all support characters. i got along with pretty much all my teammates and even had enjoyable conversations while playing. most of the time if i was on the losing side of a the match i was still able to have a good time with my team. wining wasn't the main focus. it was having fun.

blind and draft forces me to play with the people who made league of legends a terrible experience for me. also being more of a casual playing myself team builder was just a much more enjoyable experience for me. i do not have all the time to learn to play handfuls of characters, and with team builder it allowed me to play exactly what i wanted. if i am just playing 1-2 games a day it was nice to play exactly what i wanted. the queue time was never an issue with me, and if my teammates and i had a long wait time we normally just talked or i would just use the wait time to get other things done.

it doesn't bother me if riot wants to test out the new character selection with blind and draft pick. do what ever you want, go crazy with it haha. but i don't see why riot had to get rid of team builder altogether. team builder was never hurting anyone to my knowledge but to my knowledge i think the player base for team builder was quite strong. there isn't any reason the new character selection and team builder cant co-exists i think, but like i said before, i think its unreasonable to get ride of team builder altogether.

Why are you complaining that your Ginger ale was taken? before the Ginger ale you barely even had water. Now you are whining that the Ginger ale was swapped for Root Beer? come on man, isn't Root Beer than water? GOTCHA THERE, YOU BASTARD

It's not about glass half empty or glass half full, it's about swapping the flavor of the drink and demanding that we accept it under a fallacious premise.

I hated teambuilder, it was bad and it died bad

The Queen Viper1/15/2016, 8:06:29 PM1 votes

I don't remember people hating on Team Builder. It was the perfect mode for Normal games.

However I do remember people whining about how long the queue times were, but that was simply because RITO were stupid and also decided to keep 2 different queues for Normals alongside with TB instead of making TB the default and the only one. So no wonder it took a long time to get a team.

Ultraboomer1/15/2016, 9:10:19 PM1 votes

I just feel like I should mention that I absolutely love the new que. I still wish we had teambuilder tho, so that I could test a specific champion in a specific position repeatedly at the cost of longer wait times.

AninLegions7771/15/2016, 10:14:37 PM1 votes

No one hated teambuilder. Why? Cos it didn't cancel out blind pick. This one is cancelling out two modes. Blind pick and Team builder. That's a drastic change is a short span of time if you ask me.

Brêad1/15/2016, 10:38:46 PM1 votes

I honestly don't give two shits about what bugs it may have. I give a shit about the fact that they removed a BLIND PICK queue type in favor of two redone, DRAFT PICK queue types without any compensation to those who enjoyed Team Builder, which I might remind you, is a BLIND PICK queue type.

MeleeNuke1/15/2016, 10:49:07 PM1 votes

Nobody I've seen hates on the new draft pick, many (including myself) are only really mad because they took teambuilder away.

Lithium Rosa1/15/2016, 11:48:10 PM1 votes

Everyone is hating on the new que and doesn't want team builder to go away.

It's exactly thoughts like this, which pushed TB to the opposite side of new que, causing the problem. Many people actually like new que** and** TB at the same time, they have different purposes, that's why we need to keep them both, not one way or the other.

Sammystorm1/16/2016, 12:11:25 AM1 votes

Having the ability to select who you want whenever you want and being able to pre-made in ranked waters down the meaning of the ranks. Much like riot implementing hidden elo and putting in tiers and such. For a game that is supposed to be competitive they really made the only competitive queue that you don't need a team for matter a hell of a lot less.

Spacesuit Spiff1/16/2016, 1:01:30 AM1 votes

Tb had a niche, it was for learning a specific champ. Was it perfect for that? No. But it was the best way to spend an evening spamming the same thing.
