[IDEA] - Environmental Destruction and Flashy Attacks

TL;DR But I very much hope you do anyway.

I was just thinking of ways to make the game more interesting and cool to look at, just little things that add to the fun and addictiveness of League of Legends - what if there were graphical effects that affected the battlefield in minor ways: scorch marks from arrows, bullets, mage auto attacks; small craters from powerful spells, and larger ones for AOE spells or huge combos; pockmarks in the ground from large champions or creatures churning up dirt from their claws digging into the ground; or even small fires (with better particle effects than the current fire FX's) from red buff, infernal drake, or other fiery sources. Of course, these effects would not stay there for the duration of the game, that would be distracting, and probably hard to process. But they would stay there for a bit of time, at least 30 seconds. I always find it nice when game designers include stuff like that; sure, they're small, but like they say, it's the little things that show they are thinking of the enjoyment of their fans.

Some of these effects may only show up on the summoner's screen, and can be easily turned off. I can imagine how someone might use the footprints as a means of tracking, but any problems are easily addressed. Another thing is even more specific particles effects; something I've always envisioned is Garen charging into the fray, and the enemy team unloading spells, auto attacks, and other offensive weaponry at him, and he just absorbs the damage and continues to push forward. An amazing effect would be if there were sparks flying off his armor in synch with the arrows from Vayne, or the bullets from Jinx. Imagine, a full-tank Garen charging at you, your attacks sparking and splashing off him as he closes in for the kill, and as he ults you, the Smite-on-steroids blast leaves a smoking crater where your poor champion used to be, and he simply steps over you onto the next target.

That scenario (one of many), is just an idea of how such an addition could positively change the look and feel of the game. Instead of just casting spells and seeing that Garen did indeed take damage, but not much else in the way of visual response, you would receive a cacophony of impressive sparks and flashes. I would very much enjoy this, as I am one who very much enjoys the little things in games.

The one concern I, and some others, may have is: more particles, more distraction, more things to get in the way of my target. Like I said, there can be an easy way of turning the effects completely off, and the idea is that they're not that "in-the-way" to begin with. An arrow here, a bullethole there, a small flash of sparks right there, "little things."

To reiterate, I think it would be a nice thing to have to add to the already fun to look at game that is League of Legends. If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or critiques, I highly encourage feedback, and that you share this post with others to see if Riot will consider it!

Thanks for reading!
