I've seen on several different sources state that being put in a division such as Gold or Silver, you can't be demoted to the lower division(i.e. gold to silver, silver to bronze). However, I've also seen posts that say you CAN get demoted in such a fashion. I'm asking this question: Can I be demoted a whole ranked division? If so, How many losses at lp=0 will it allow before this demotion?
Yes you can 100%
You can be demoted a whole division but it is very difficult and you have to be significantly lower skill than the rank you are at for it to happen. Check the rank of the peoe you play against. You have to be a full division down in mmr (ie playing at silver 5 level games when you are in gold 5) in order to drop divisions. It was implemented so people couldn't intentionally troll and keep high ranks like plat or diamond while trolling till they were in bronze or silver games. Don't worry about losing your rank if you are anywhere close to that rank in skill bc even if you are bronze 3 skill as a silver 5 you won't lose your rank even if you go on a losing streak. If you are playing games at tier 5 below the division you are in, then you really do need to improve or lose that rank.
You can't be demoted in Bronze, Silver and Gold for INACTIVITY. You can be demoted everywhere for LOSING.
How many losses? Once you start playing with dudes a whole Tier lower (e.g. you are Gold 5 and are playing with Silver 4/5), you'll be demoted.
Can vary, but I'd say somewhat 10-20 games.
