Riot legitimately scripting these events?

No. There's no way I can firmly believe that. And it has nothing to do with what Riot has said or done.

What really tells me that these events are real, has been the players. Especially Jensen. The look on his face in the camera after he died was no act. There's no way he had that much emotion over the death if it was scripted. On top of that, he had another heart breaking reaction after they lost game 4 of summer 2016 . These are still teens/young adults following their passion. They are emotionally attached and engaged to this. This is the world to them, not just some money bucket. If they want money, they'd be streaming. DoubleLift already proved that.

These events are real, and most importantly, these players are real. And nothing is going to change that.
