Since you balanced the Dark Harvest rune for ARAM

Perhaps you could look into similar balance changes for other runes such as Gathering Storm?

For Gathering Storm, I think it would be pretty reasonable to cut the upgrade time from 10 minutes to 8 or 7 minutes because ARAM has much less potential to go for more than 3 ticks at 10 minutes.

At 7 minutes, you're still unlikely to get more than 4 ticks (28 minute game length) but it would still feel more reasonable.

Why don't you just pick runes that are appropriate for the mode? Nobody's forcing you to pick Gathering Storm.

"Let's just leave clearly imbalanced aspects in place."

If you're going to make that type of argument, get out.

Runes as a whole are still imbalanced because most champions are shoehorned into a specific keystone. Even those that can use more than one typically can't use more than one keystone per tree.

And this isn't even taking into account that Electrocute remains one of the most powerful and reliable keystones yet Riot is saying Domination and Sorcery are balanced in total power.

After I made that post I played an ARAM and remembered that Scorch is also pretty worthless in ARAM. Waterwalking is unpickable because it does nothing. Gathering Storm is pretty weak but it's better than Scorch.

Like do you realize the only reason people use Scorch in SR is because every little bit of damage in the first few levels makes a huge difference? That's not the case in ARAM. You can go Gathering Storm and it's probably a better choice because you can't really fall behind unless your whole team literally ints. Scorch just makes no difference in ARAM. Gathering Storm can potentially make a difference depending on how long the game is.

Anyway the thing is, there are bigger issues in ARAM like champions that are really overpowered and lack of itemization to counter them.

Scorch actually does have uses in ARAM despite its lack of procs because of how much sustain is cut on the map. Every bit of damage actually goes farther in early ARAM due to that.

And with an accelerated mode, it stands to reason that some delayed runes (such as Magical Footwear) could afford to be accelerated. Magical Footwear, however, already scales down with champion takedowns so it is already accelerated on ARAM. Gathering Storm, however, does not have that same blessing.

I get your point but I just don't think it's too important. You won't get put behind just because of a little more damage from scorch early. You get enough passive exp and gold that the early advantage of scorch is trivial. I mean to be fair, the benefit of Gathering Storm is just as trivial on ARAM in most cases.

There are a few outliers in ARAM that really make a difference like Triumph and Presence of Mind but most of the runes are kinda w/e
