ANSWERED: Thresh is a ranged champ. Relic shield only procs for melee champs.

I've never really understood the reasoning behind that.

If somebody doesn't comprehend the material, they shouldn't be moved ahead. Similarly, the courses themselves shouldn't have their standards lowered until they are capable of passing.

I could understand separate instruction, there is no point worsening the education for competent students to accommodate the less competent ones.

well since that and the standardized testing schools are worst off... students arent taught how to learn and think... they are taught how to pass that test because if the school does bad , teachers are fired, schools lose funding and so on...

schools are losing arts, sports , music programs left and right and all they focus on all year long is that fckin test.

students learn material long enough to pass a test and forget it a class later...

I have actually lost patience for people understanding Thresh is range. One post, about 2 months ago, a player saying Thresh is a melee champion and could not proc Runanne's Hurricane. That was the first time I got tilted from boards. That post was quite big and literally EVERYONE, at least some 30 players, said something about Thresh being ranged.

Either he did a very good job at trolling (because unless you are Riven, tilting me is hard) or he was a player that did not understand how Thresh works. Comments like:

Honestly, that was one of the main posts that convinced me they were trolling.

It is such a basic and easily testable interaction that I can't imagine someone would possibly be stupid enough to argue that it doesn't work seriously.

It is something I name myself in games, like a theme. I try to get "Sorcerer" in whatever name I can. While I usually don't name characters this, a profile account I have a trend of doing.

I have done that since I was playing Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks so many years ago and named my character Sorcry or some misspelling like that.

Done that with all my Zelda games and translated that into other games. Something I have done since I was young.

I only remember someone commenting about my name once, a Vayne, saying how dumb it was, trying to tilt me. I did not explain myself to her but that was the only time someone commented me about my name, other than conveance in One for All and simply typing three letters "ark" in place of 6 or more.

Read the very first sentence in Relic Shield description:

"Melee basic attacks execute minions..."

Thresh is a ranged champion and, as such, he doesn't have melee autoattacks.

Seriously, people have been falsely reporting this as a bug for years because they can't be bothered to read tooltips.

i think it was originally not exclusive to melee champs.

Unique Passive - Spoils of War: Basic attacks execute minions below 200 health. Killing a minion heals the nearest allied champion for 2% of your maximum health and grants them gold equal to the kill plus 5. This effect requires a nearby allied champion to trigger. Recharges every 60 seconds, up to a maximum of 2 charges.

it was hotfixed though, but the tooltip wasnt changed for a while if i remember correctly

so it is possible that people have spread false information based on old information.

regardless thresh should probably be bringing amulet coin.

well the issue with thresh is he has 16 base armor lowest in game and dont get armor per lvl like all other 133 champs... having the relic shield in lane for the extra hp, healing and being able to sustain more poke because he is gonna be kinda front line to engage/zone poke etc he needs the regen of hp and the extra flat hp...

that is why its recommended on him...

now as a support main who plays nearly all support champs ( thresh not as much as i use to... but i still do from time to time ) im a fan of starting shield and then after getting up to targons brace and sighstone to start building raptor cloak so mid game i can sale targons brace to complete raptor clock into tailsman. because the cdr, regen of mana and hp, the speed boost, the armor ect to me is better in mid game also you wont be able to proc relic shields gold passive as much so getting passive gold for your team clearing waves is better in my opinion

why not just have a rune page with scaling dual resist, hp regen, hp, and spellvamp? you'll get AP from souls.

well problem with scaling runes in a duo lane you split experience and you lvl slower then other lanes... so that is why flat armor/mr runes are ideal in bot lane... for both adc and support

the most common rune page for thresh is one of two pages

attack damage reds, armor quints , hp seals, and mr blues

or armor reds, armor quints , hp seals and mr blues

yeah, but regen is better for small mistakes. a larger health pool is better for massive mistakes.

It worked for both ranged and melee champions for exactly one patch after it was released.

When junglers ceased existing and four players per game were starting with Relic Shield, they nerfed it pretty goddamn quickly.

ok thresh has a ranged auto attack... the execute passive on relic shield is for melee champs... thresh does not fall under melee champs

you can proc the heal and the gold share by simply last hitting the cs when you have a charge from relic shield.... but if you not last hit correctly you cant proc the relic shield thresh does not proc the execute passive of relic shield at all

Alright, so Thresh isn't a Melee Champion, he is a ranged support, HOWEVER everything he has in his kit would be something for that of a Melee Champion, other than his Auto-Attack.

With that being said, calling out a persons stupidity is highly wrongful of you and makes you all look like children lol

People don't read tooltips because you all support where this game went, and that's right down the toilet, why would I read a tooltip for a champion when I know no matter what as long as I get the same items as everyone else, it's busted? you have made this game this way, turrets are garbage, champs are broken, and too much damage is prevalent in the course of a game. It's not fun, it's completely boring and I'm really glad I uninstalled it. Do you want to know the worse part about the damage in this game? Call of Duty: Infinite Triggerfare has more survivability potential than a game based on cooldowns and strategic timing LOL

People play other games because I'd rather lose a 5minute game, than a game that lasts 30-40+ minutes and lost only because someone decided to leave/go into an unwarded bush/miss smite/or troll

I suggest specifying the EXECUTE of relic shield doesn't proc. The other abilities of the item (gold sharing for instance) work 100%, as on any ranged champion.

Relic Shield's tooltip is pretty clear.

Melee autoattacks execute minion.
Killing minion triggers gold-share and heal.

The issue is that some players just can't be bothered to read.

(I had to check to make sure this wasn't in MM&G.) :(

The Execute TRUE DAMAGE BONUS only applies to MELEE champions. Thresh is a RANGED champion. Thresh WILL NOT make use of Execute's BONUS TRUE DAMAGE. Thresh can still LAST HIT to share relic shield gold.

MELEE CHAMPION: champion that need stand next to the target to auto-attack them. RANGED CHAMPION: Champion that does not need stand next to the target to auto-attack them.

I hope this helps clear it up.

Thresh can compensate for the missing true damage execute if he levels his Flay ability first. Flay gives a decent bonus damage to his next auto attack after a short time of not attacking anything.
